PRV Audio’s 6MB550FT 6.5″ Forte Series midbass is specifically designed to deliver greater Xmax and reduced distortion in mid to low midbass frequencies. With a Peak-to-Peak excursion of up to 14 mm (0.55″), this speaker packs a serious punch!

The tall 2″ voice coil provides excellent heat dissipation and strong motor force, enabling high sensitivity at high power levels with minimal distortion when used with a recommended High Pass filter of 95Hz at 12 dB per octave.  

These refined design elements make the 6MB550FT a standout performer. With 94.5 dB efficiency and 275 watts of power handling, this midbass is ideal for use in stage monitors, auditoriums, touring rigs, and outdoor sound systems. Its smooth frequency response from 85 to 7,500 Hz makes it well-suited for both 2- and 3-way speaker designs.

A sturdy cast aluminum frame with open spokes helps reduce reflections directed back into the cone. A large ferrite magnet, paired with precisely machined top and bottom plates, drives the voice coil with accuracy. 

An extra forced vent in the backplate enhances cooling, allowing this driver to handle up to 550 watts RMS with ease.

This midbass is built to withstand years of demanding professional use! 

 Its specially engineered spider minimizes distortion during high excursion, while the double roll surround maintains linear cone movement at high output. The copper tinsel lead wire supports high current transfer, combining performance-focused design and premium components to deliver outstanding clarity, detail, and dynamic sound.

Its CCAW voice coil features 14.8 mm of winding, delivering an impressive 5.40 mm Xmax and supporting up to 14 mm Peak-to-Peak excursion before damage—allowing the cone to move over 0.55″ for powerful punch. 

The paper cone is crafted from a high-strength pulp blend engineered for optimal linearity in the midrange, and treated with a special coating that enhances damping characteristics, significantly improving the smoothness of the frequency response.
