The WF182BD18 is designed with a Balanced Drive motor structure that ensures symmetrical magnetic force, significantly reducing even-order harmonic distortion for cleaner sound reproduction. A copper cap on the center pole lowers voice coil inductance and minimizes variations in inductance as the coil moves, improving linearity and high-frequency response. The cone is constructed from a new paper and glass fiber blend, providing improved consistency, stability, and natural tonal balance. A rigid die-cast aluminum chassis with extensive venting reduces air turbulence and audible distortion, while the vented voice coil former and dual-flared center pole help to minimize compression and noise during large cone excursions. 

The heavy-duty black fiberglass voice coil former reduces mechanical losses, enhancing dynamic performance and low-level detail. A large motor with a 39 mm voice coil provides better control and high power handling, while an integrated aluminum field-stabilizing ring keeps distortion low at elevated output levels. The low-loss suspension, featuring a high mechanical Q, contributes to detailed and dynamic sound reproduction. Black-coated motor components improve heat dissipation, and the rugged Conex spider ensures long-term durability even under demanding conditions. Gold-plated terminals offer a reliable, corrosion-resistant connection for years of trouble-free use.
