The WF182BD14 features a newly developed cone made from interwoven Kevlar and carbon fibers, offering an ideal blend of low mass, rigidity, and internal damping. These characteristics make it especially well-suited for detailed and accurate midrange reproduction. The Balanced Drive motor structure promotes symmetrical drive force, which significantly reduces even-order harmonic distortion. A vented, inverted center dome helps minimize compression, while the copper cap on the center pole lowers inductance and keeps it stable throughout the voice coil's excursion. The rigid die-cast aluminum chassis includes extensive venting to control airflow and reduce turbulence-related distortion. 

A heavy-duty black fiberglass voice coil former is used to reduce mechanical losses, contributing to improved dynamics and clarity at low levels. The large motor includes a 1.25” diameter voice coil for better control and increased power handling, while an aluminum field-stabilizing ring keeps distortion low even at high output. A low-loss suspension with high mechanical Q improves detail retrieval and transient accuracy. Black-coated motor components enhance heat dissipation, and the Conex spider is built to withstand demanding conditions. Gold-plated terminals offer long-term reliability by preventing oxidation and maintaining a secure electrical connection.
