The W2524 guitar and instrument cable by Mogami is designed to preserve your tone, while rejecting interference and microphonics. A 20 AWG center conductor is sheathed in polyethylene insulation, then a conductive PVC sub-insulation, and finally covered in spiral shield and 0.236" PVC jacket for maximum clarity, flexibility, and durability.

Key Features

  • Conductive PVC sub-shield drains microphonic noise caused by cable movement
  • Single 0.56 mm² center conductor for consistent signal transfer
  • Braided served shield provides effective noise rejection
  • Designed for high-impedance, voltage-driven instrument pickups
  • Flexible PVC jacket suited for frequent handling and routing
  • Designed to reduce handling noise in live performance and recording applications
  • Made in Japan

Overview

Mogami W2524 High Impedance 20 AWG Guitar Instrument Signal Cable 328 ft. (100m)

Mogami W2524 High Impedance 20 AWG Guitar Instrument Signal Cable

Most musical instrument pickups, such as those used in electric guitars, rely on high-impedance circuits that are primarily voltage driven, with very little current flow. Because of this, handling noise, also known as microphonics, can be an issue with guitar cables. Microphonic noise occurs when small voltages are generated as the cable is bent, stepped on, or moved. To reduce this effect, guitar cables are designed with a conductive PVC layer beneath the shield to dissipate these unwanted voltages. Note: This conductive layer must be trimmed back during termination, as leaving it in place can cause a partial short.
