Dayton Audio Weatherproof Sound Exciter Transducer With Bolt HDN-8BUnlike a tactile transducer that delivers 'shake' effects, the HDN-8B Sound Exciter Transducer is a compact, versatile full-range transducer that can produce sound through a surface or structure across a wide frequency range. This makes it possible to create hidden audio systems in walls, ceilings, floors, or displays. Its impressive power handling allows for high output with only a few transducers. Its hermetically-sealed design means it can be installed indoors or outdoors, even in wet or humid places like decks, showers, kiosks, and displays. It has a single M5 threaded mounting stud that easily attaches to acrylic, fiberglass, or metal (mounting hardware included). The 8-ohm impedance makes it compatible with standard audio amplifiers.
Specifications: • Frequency response: 40–15,000 (typical) • Sensitivity: varies by application • Dimensions: 4" W x 1.75" H • Impedance: 8 ohms • Power handling: 50 watts RMS / 100 watts maximum.
Frequency response is dependent upon the resonant nature of the material the HDN-8B is mounted to, as well as the type of environment and mounting configuration selected.
Additional information: The HDN-8B is a transducer that produces sound through resonating surface area. The surface area and material act as a carrier for the sound energy. Because the sound is through resonation rather than vibration, the surface material will move no more than .01 inch. This is less than most surfaces contracting naturally from humidity and changes in the weather. If mounted behind drywall there will be no damage to the drywall joints or drywall screws. Because the HDN-8B is not designed using a cone or surround, there are no parts that are susceptible to damage. Every HDN-8B is fully tested at the factory to perform to manufactured specifications.
