Compact and extremely versatile, the HDN-8 Sound Exciter Transducer lets you create high-quality ‘hidden speakers’ in walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, seating, and virtually any other surface you can think of resulting in great invisible sound. The integrated coarse threaded mounting stud makes the HDN-8 perfect for installation onto wood, fiberglass, or plastic surfaces that are 1/2" thick or more. For thinner surfaces, the HDN-8B (M5 threaded mounting stud) may be a better choice.

Dayton Audio Weatherproof Sound Exciter Transducer HDN-8

Unlike a tactile transducer that delivers 'shake' effects to your listening experience, the HDN-8 Sound Exciter Transducer is a full range, versatile, compact transducer that can excite a surface or structure over a wide bandwidth, enabling the creation of completely hidden audio systems in walls, ceilings, and floors. Its high power handling allows it to produce useful sound levels with a small number of transducers, and its hermetically-sealed design permits indoor or outdoor installation, even in wet or humid environments such as outside decking or an inside bath/shower installation. It features a single, coarse-threaded mounting stud that easily installs into wood, fiberglass, or plastic, and the 8-ohm impedance allows integration with conventional audio amplifiers.

Frequency response is dependent upon the resonant nature of the material the HDN-8 is mounted to, as well as the type of environment and mounting configuration selected.

Additional information: The HDN-8 is a transducer that produces sound through resonating surface area. The surface area and material act as a carrier for the sound energy. Because the sound is through resonation rather than vibration, the surface material will move no more than .01 inch. This is less than most surfaces contracting naturally from humidity and changes in the weather. If mounted behind drywall there will be no damage to the drywall joints or drywall screws. Because the HDN-8 is not designed using a cone or surround, there are no parts that are susceptible to damage. Every HDN-8 is fully tested at the factory to perform to manufactured specifications.
