Gold4 represents the highest level of performance in the Grado Prestige Series. Built on decades of cartridge development and refinement, it delivers a balanced, highly musical presentation while maintaining the consistency and reliability that define Grado cartridges. 

Using Grado’s moving iron design, Gold4 produces a stable, responsive signal with low moving mass and dependable long-term performance. Its die-injection molded housing supports consistent construction while allowing the internal components to operate with precision.

Performance

Its sound is defined by clarity, control, and refinement. Detail comes through with precision while the top end remains smooth and composed. The midrange has natural presence and texture, while low frequencies are delivered with strong definition and authority. 

Complex recordings are reproduced with stability and separation, maintaining a coherent, balanced presentation that lets the character of the music come through naturally.

Diamond, Cantilever & Stylus

Gold4 is fitted with a bonded elliptical diamond stylus attached to an aluminum cantilever. 

The elliptical shape delivers effective groove contact and dependable tracking, while the aluminum cantilever helps create a stable and controlled sound. Together, they provide clarity, balance, and consistency across a broad variety of recordings. 

The stylus assembly can be replaced by the user, making maintenance simple and supporting long-term ownership. All Prestige Series styli are interchangeable, offering flexibility between models while preserving consistent performance.

Moving Iron Design

All Grado cartridges employ a moving iron design based on Joseph Grado’s patented flux-bridger principle. 

This method allows the cartridge to produce an accurate signal with extremely low moving mass while keeping the coil structure fixed in place. The result is a presentation that blends speed, control, and harmonic integrity without the delicacy often linked to traditional moving coil systems. 

The design also supports long-term consistency, preserving performance over time without degradation in the internal signal path.

Coil and Internal Structure

The internal signal path is constructed using ultra-high-purity 5N OCC copper, chosen for its conductivity and consistency. 

Each cartridge is subjected to cryogenic treatment and internal damping to help minimize unwanted resonance and maintain signal integrity. The result is a presentation that stays coherent, balanced, and dynamically responsive.
