Digital Pencil vs. Digital Soldering Station

Precise temperature control soldering is usually done with large digital soldering stations. The Stahl Tools DDSI lightweight, compact size 30W digital soldering iron pen changes that. The digital display and control buttons are built right into the handle to vary the temperature from 302° to 842° F. Its compact size enables you to take precise digital temperature soldering to the job site. The small size also frees up desk space without losing other features like sleep timer and standby temperature settings.

Digital Pencil vs. Stand Alone Irons

The light weight cord from the AC power supply makes this pencil soldering iron feel lighter than other 30W soldering pencils. Most variable temperature soldering irons or pencils plug directly into an AC outlet with a heavy insulated, heavier gauge wire that mounts inside the handle. This digital soldering iron runs on DC current which enables it to use a lighter gauge wire and all the weight plugs into the AC outlet. Therefore, the digital soldering pen feels like your soldering with a standard lead pencil. To turn the iron off unplug it from the back of the soldering handle instead of reaching for the AC plug in the wall outlet. Additional tips are available to make soldering jobs even easier.
