Designed by the engineers at Dayton Audio, the Samba speaker kit is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker that provides a reference quality sound without the usual high price. The Sambas produce an extremely detailed and accurate sound while still delivering a natural and non-fatiguing quality that is perfect for long listening sessions. Both the woofer and tweeter use low distortion motors and non-resonant diaphragms to deliver accurate sound that allows the speakers seemingly disappear into your listening environment. The Samba speaker kit will be right at home in everything from a high-end recording studio to any audiophile's living room.
Bass and midrange frequencies are handled by the popular Dayton Audio RS180P-4 7" Reference Paper Woofer. With a reinforced paper cone and low-distortion motor system with dual shorting rings, this driver sets the standards for value in high-performance woofers. High frequency duties go to the Dayton Audio RST28F-4 1-1/8" Reference Series Fabric Dome Tweeter. Designed to be a match for the Reference Series woofers, this tweeter was the obvious choice and with a state-of-the-art Ferrofluid cooled motor system, including copper shorting rings, to ensure that high frequency content is reproduced as transparently as possible, assuring studio-quality performance.
This kit is ideal for any novice woodworker. The enclosure is very easy to build, you only need to create a 8-1/2" W x 15" H x 11" D box and attach the precut baffle. The solid 3/4" MDF baffle is CNC milled to tight tolerances. Recesses for flush mounting the drivers are pre-cut making assembly a snap.
This kit includes nearly everything you need to build a top-notch speaker in no time, including: a knock-down cabinet, drivers, port, damping material, and crossover components.
