Hello!I want to know if these tweeters can be greater replacement to my EVENT 20/20 bas V3 tweeters? One of the tweeter have broken recently so i was thinking of replacing both. The Wattage And Impedance also match with those of events. CrossOver Point Is At 2.3Khz Anyone who can help me I would appreciate.Giving my thanks in advance.

Best Answer:I have used these tweeters in three DIY speakers that I designed and built so I can speak to these with experience. The MDT 29 is a very good quality tweeter and should work well in the EVENT 20/20. I crossed these at 2.5KHz and they go lower than that so 2.3KHz should work well with these. The power handling is good at 80 Watts nominal and 1000 W transient. Dispersion is good and tonality is fairly neutral. An issue you may have is the efficiency of this tweeter vs. the original in the EVENT. Since you are replacing both speakers, you won't get one brighter than the other but it may change the overall tonality of both. The sensitivity of the MDT 29 is 89 dB. If say, for instance, the OEM tweeters in the EVENTs are 85 dB then the speakers will sound brighter after you replace tweeters. Not a huge problem as you can just use the tone controls to adjust for this. You also need to measure the OEM speaker and review the MDT 29 spec sheet for physical fitment. Bottom line is that these are excellent tweeters at this price point. Whether or not they will make a noticeable improvement I cannot say as I have no experience with the EVENT monitors.

Is it bad when these two woofers and tweeter are surface mounted and not flush mounted I don't have a router jig or circle jig I have a jigsaw so is it bad?
Best Answer:I'm guessing you want to mount the DC130B and the MDT 29 in the smaller cabinet for the highs and mid-bass and the RS180S in the larger cabinet for bass? I haven't looked at the driver parameters and assume the drivers match the enclosure volumes, but as I said, the crossovers design and driver placement are the most critical aspects. The drivers not being flush mount is for all practical purposes cosmetic and in my experience has no affect on sound. Good luck and enjoy designing your system!

Have one of two mdt-27’s not working anymore. Can I just replace one with an mdt-29 or do I need to replace the pair together ?
George W.
Best Answer:The mdt-27 is a horn loaded driver. Frequency response is similar but the 27 is quite a bit more efficient. The sensitivity for the 27 is 94 dB vs 89 dB for the mdt-29. It would be best to replace both with like drivers but the Morel CAT 378 might be a better choice. It has specs that more closely match the mdt-27.
The 2.5k xover is for the RS180S-08 and MDT 29. The 3.5k xover is for the DC130B-4 and GRS planar tweeter with back cup I know the the tweeter section of the xover is 8 ohms only the GRS planar tweeter is not 8 ohms it is 4 ohms the resistor that I am using is it ok using this for the planar tweeter and are the xovers points good for the woofers and tweeters and show me the components for zobel and attenuator I'm adding those so is it good?
Best Answer:Tristan, I wouldn't use either pre-fab crossover (2.5k or the 3.5k for each respective paired setups. As, with the paired driver combos, they will have undesireable frequency response swings in the crossover band. If you are comfortable with assembly if your own crossover from parts, please see my recommendations for each pair. You can do this!!!
For the DC130B-4 and the GRS Planar (with backcup), for up to 20watts, the crossover design is as follows:
12db HighPass: C1: 9uF (metalized polypropylene: best you can afford) L1: 0.2mH (air-core 20awg) L-Pad: R1: 2ohm (20watt), R2: 3.6ohm (10watt)
For the RS180S-8 and the MDT 29, for upto 60 watts:
12db Highpass: C1: 12uF (metalized polypropylene: best you can afford) L1: 0.1mH (air-core 16awg or 18awg) L-Pad: for 60watts= R1: four 8ohm (20watts each: 80 watts total), R2: three 25ohm (20watts each: 60watts total)
It will sound a million times better...good luck!

I'm planing to use these for a project should I use a assembled crossover or make my own (you can show me the components) and what port should I use (you can show me what port should I use) I'm using the dayton audio classic series 8 ohm woofer with the grs planar tweeter with back cup. And the other one with the dayton audio reference series shielded woofer with the morel MDT tweeter. Is the 0.23 cubic ft. Cabinet good for the dayton audio 5 1/4" classic woofer and is the 0.56 cubic ft. Good for the dayton audio reference series 7" woofer good for this?
Best Answer:That’s a lot of questions. Let’s start with .56ft3 speaker. The Morel tweeter should work fairly well with the woofer you have chosen. Check the dimensions of the box with the dimensions of the woofer to make sure that you can physically mount this speaker in that box. The speaker may sound a little bright as the SPL for the tweeter is higher than the woofer. Next is the crossover. For the drivers chosen, a 2nd order LR crossing at 2500 Hz should do well. PE has a 2500 Hz LR crossover pre-built (Part # 260-142). For 2nd order LR crossovers, the tweeter polarity needs to be reversed or you will get a drop in output over the frequency band where the tweeter and woofer blend. I do not know if the polarity markings on PE 260-142 takes this into account or not. I would ask tech support on that. Finally, the port for this should probably be tuned to between 45 to 50 Hz. PE part # 260-407 cut to about 4” should work well.
I am looking for a nice Twitter like this one to replace, my speakers are 6 ohm and I was wondering if I could put this 8ohms Twitter with it?
A shopper
Best Answer:Dear,
You should have more information about the tweeter that is to be replaced. You should know what sensitivity your original tweeter has. This is an 89db Tweeter. If you put an 8ohm tweeter instead of a 6ohm tweeter, the cutoff frequency will be different. Which Tweeter are you replacing? Please, provide more information.
Thanks!...Rolando

I want to build a 3-Way speaker. This Woofer 25-2500hz, Midrange GRS 5SBM-8 500-10,000hz and the Tweeter Morel MDT 29. 1,800-20,000hz. Would the Parts Express crossover #260-210 with the crossover points of 800/5,000hz be the way to go. Cabinet 3.5 cu/ft. I know a lot goes into designing a cabinet. Just need help or suggestions with the above mentioned ?
