Overview
Celestion's CF18VJD 18" subwoofer features an advanced, FEA optimized motor for maximum output and symmetrical cone movement, which results in low harmonic distortion, as well as two demodulation rings for low electromagnetic distortion.
To keep control of the driver when used with high power amplifiers (of up to 1,600 watts RMS), Celestion employs double suspension and a multi-roll surround for exceptional linearity during extreme excursion moments that are common with lower frequency reproduction. A lightweight carbon fiber and Kevlar-loaded paper cone is used due to its rigidity and ability to respond quickly to audio impulses.
Intelligent heat management is designed into the cast aluminum chassis, high temperature 5" inside/outside wound voice coil, and extensively vented ferrite magnet which prevents thermal compression and the resulting loss and sensitivity. Last, but certainly not least, this 18" subwoofer has an amazing 9 mm of Xmax to move massive amounts of air.
