The overall presentation of the Neo3-PDRW is extremely clear and refined, and is reminiscent of the sound of electrostatic speakers. With an off-axis response to match most 1" dome tweeters, the Neo3-PDRW is a very capable tweeter that will outperform most dome tweeters. Comes with an attached damped rear chamber to isolate the rear of the driver allowing simple mounting is conventional enclosures. This unit can be used with either the flush mount (264-7661) or surface mount (264-7641) faceplate kit for easy and attractive cabinet installation.
The Bohlender Graebener Neo Series of planar transducers feature push-pull neodymium magnets, extremely light Kaladex diaphragms, and an etched planar aluminum conductor. There are no heavy voice coils, glue joints, or surrounds to inhibit the reproduction of the signal, hence there is no cone break-up resonance, phase incoherence, or signal smearing that is common in conventional drivers. The Neo Series drivers deliver clean, airy, transparent sound that is inherently natural and musically pleasing. Plus, the purely resistive impedance of the Neo Series makes an easy load for your power amplifier and greatly facilitates crossover design. The Neo3-PDRW represents a new breakthrough solution in planar transducer technology from Bohlender Graebener Corporation. Its patent pending innovative PDR design is based on our Neo3 tweeter and stands for Progressive Drive and Radiation technology. The Neo3-PDRW has a strategically arranged magnet system that drives the voice coil with a distributed electromagnetic force that resembles the natural shape of the diaphragm displacement at lower frequencies. Also, the Neo3-PDRW diaphragm has a very specific resistive acoustical loading that is accomplished by locating absorbing material in close proximity to the diaphragm periphery. This contact-free resistive loading does not reduce effective diaphragm size or increase diaphragm mass. The Neo3-PDRW design implements a progressive reduction of the radiating area of the diaphragm to a very narrow 15mm slot with increase of frequency providing smoother frequency response and wide horizontal dispersion even at the highest frequencies. The Neo3-PDRW is similar to the standard Neo3 but with greater high-frequency extension and horizontal dispersion at the expense of reduced sensitivity.
