Sure Electronics AA-AB32191 2x300W TAS5630 Class-D Amplifier Board

Just one look at the power input terminals and you will know that this amplifier board means business! A Class-D Texas Instruments TAS5630 with PurePath™ HD enabled integrated feedback is used to deliver 300W to two channels, effortlessly and efficiently. This amplifier board works amazingly well with both low sensitivity speakers and subwoofers.

A robust heatsink, two-stage cooling fan, as well as protection circuits to protect against over/under voltage, over current, short circuit, and over temperature conditions are built-in for years of enjoyment. Four fixed gain settings allow you to match the amplifier to your source, and use your source as the volume control. A 25 to 50 VDC power supply is required (sold separately).

Note: The minimum recommended wire gauge to be used for power is 16 AWG.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it definitely needs a large power supplyI bought 2 of these, not really sure where to use them. Still don't know. I also bought 2 of the 300 watt DC voltage boosters to go with them. I sorta kinda thought I might make a pair of powered main speakers, but when I hooked up a 24 volt supply, it was obvious it needed a 48-50 volt supply. I'm still in process. They work as advertised, appear to be excellent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Well-BuiltThis amp does exactly what it's advertised to do. It WILL pump 2X300 watts into a 4 ohm load as long as your power supply is strong enough. All of the electronic components are very secure. My favorite feature is the built-in circuit breaker that kicks in within seconds of an overloaded circuit or in the event of the power supply pushing more than 50 volts. I'd recommend this amp board to anyone looking for a simple power amp with a very small footprint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice clean and powerful amplifier!I had a dead stereo power amplifier and wanted to "rebuild" it into a working amp again. So I used the existing toroidal power transformer, a pair of 47000 uF, 50 volt capacitors and the 2x300W TAS5630 Class-D Amplifier Board.I powered up the amp board - it just worked. The board sounds nice and clean. Lows pound through, and I can hear the highs crystal clear without any distortion. I can crank it up as far as my limited power supply will allow and the board just works - and works cleanly.I know the board is Class-D and efficient, but wow... it doesn't even get warm when cranking about 150 watts per channel into a pair of 8 ohm dummy loads. I can't get more than that now (explained next).Last thing I need to do is upgrade the power transformer. The old amp only has a 25.8 volt transformer which gives me about 35 volts at the capacitors (Vrms * 1.414). I'll use a 40 volt transformer with a higher VA rating to power the amplifier board to it's fullest.

So i have the Pioneer VSX-818V receiver it is a 5.1, and before i buy this i need to make sure that i understand this correct. I am going to go from the subwoofer preout with a single male rca to dual male rca to this. it will be powering 2 subwoofers.

I was wondering if it would be possible to run a graphic equalizer with this amplifier? If not is their a suggestion for adjusting output frequency?

Yes it is possible. The EQ will have to be line level and placed between the source and the amplifier input.

If I wanted to limit this amp to 150w per channel rms at 4ohm an 1%thd, what power supply would be needed?

You should be able to achieve that with the Sure 36V 9.7A 350W (#320-3141), or the 48V 7.3A 350W (#320-3143) power supply. Also, see RogerK's review above.

Would this power supply work? 48 VDC 3.3A 150W Regulated Switching Power Supply ? What would be the bare minimum power supply required that would give me 250 watts output continuously?

You will need a t least a 6 Amp output rating on your power supply for a continuous output of 250 Watts assuming an efficiency of about 85% . I would recommend more.  Not a good idea to run a power supply at its maximum rating continuously.
