Overview

Sonic Barrier BDS-15 Butyl Rubber Door Sealer Roll 0.31" Dia. x 14.76 ft. L

Sonic Barrier butyl rubber seals gaps in damping material and holds wires in place in vehicle doors and trunks. Provides an airtight seal behind subwoofers and speakers.  The next time you need to keep wires from drooping in your door or trunk use Sonic Barrier butyl to hold them tight in place. Damping material installs always have seams and gaps in corners that are hard to seal. Sonic Barrier butyl rubber provides the solution to this problem. It squeezes into corners and gaps to finish the job.

Sonic Barrier Butyl Rubber is a reliable, heavy-duty adhesive that does quick repairs in a snap. Nothing beats the flexibility and strength of butyl tape. It also does an excellent job providing a mess-free and air-tight sealing for Speakers, RVs, car and boat windows, and much much more.

Installation Instructions:

Like any other adhesives, ensuring proper installation process is highly essential if you want to fully utilize the strength of butyl tape. Here’s a detailed step-by-step installation process:

Before installing butyl tape, chill it by storing it in the fridge for 2-3 hours. This will make it more manageable. This step is optional, but a butyl tape that has been cooled down will be easier to manage and conform.

Make sure that the surface where you would be installing the Butyl Tape is clean, dry, and dust-free. Clean surface with an alcohol solution and let it completely dry before applying the tape.

Peel the tape from the roll. The tape itself is easy to tear. Try not to touch the adhesive side too much as oils from your hands or any other foreign materials can contaminate the adhesive and lessen its bonding strength.

Conform the tape onto itself to eliminate any gaps that may exist between the tape and the surface.

Apply many layers of the tape to make the butyl patch thicker. This set-up would significantly increase the strength, stability, and air and water tightness properties. Eliminate any air bubbles which may exist by applying pressure on the area of application.

Trim any adhesive that oozes out using a plastic knife or any plastic card.

Tech Tip: Wet your fingers with soapy water, and rub it on the tape's surface. This will smooth the butyl rubber, reduce any bumps or lumps, and give your installation a smooth and professional look!

Allow the tape to cure, dry, and acclimate overnight before exposing the surface to any harsh conditions.
