Wired Home SS8 Speaker Selector Impedance Matching 1 In 8 Out
What are the connectors marked output for? Aren't the 8 connectors on the right also outputs?
The connectors below the inputs are through-out connections, they are not impedance matched. They are there so you don't have to split the speaker output from a receiver if you have speakers wired in the same room.

how to hook up speaker selector/300-974 to a 5 to1 amp.
You can only use the front left and right channels in the receiver to be able to connect to a speaker selector like this.

What electrical characteristics are available on the "Speaker Output" terminals?
My other speaker selectors don't have such terminals marked as such. The manual doesn't mention them other than showing a photo.
You may have to rephrase the question as it is a little vague. The outputs are spring thermals which generally will except up to 14 awg wire. It is a resistor based impedance matching device which will show the amp about a 6 ohm load at all times. It is important to follow the instructions on proper set up to the t. The output power will be about 30% of the power from the amp due to the resisters and distributed evenly to like speakers that are connected. Hope this is of assistance answering your question
