Rated 4 out of 5 by from awsome producti purchased this item to connect my home reciever to my bedroom and outdoor speakers along with my DJ system..i have 4 crown amplifiers for my 4 18 inch subwoofers and my 2 15 inch jbl mrx's...i obviously dont put out all of that power to the small outdoor speakers (the brand is dual..cheap stuff) but the bose 101 music monitors i have in my room can actually handle quite some power from the crown...but otherwise this product is awsome and does what it is intended to do. and looks great in my wall

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, Some Problems...This is a great switch at a great price - try finding it cheaper anywhere else on the internet. Unfortunately my switch was essentially DOA - it confused the A and B channels. The reason I'm still giving it high ranks is because customer service is sending me a replacement, free of charge. I expect it to work flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed!I needed a switch to connect my stereo and a small TV (with just an earphone connector) to two pairs of speakers (inside and outside) and this switch worked perfectly. Very easy to configure with little difficulty getting all the wires in a standard electrical box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent productExcellent product and great value. For users that do not neet the volume control support, I would suggest they offer a version pre-wired so I wouldn't have to bridge those wires. Works great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice features but know your wiringIt is exactly what I wanted feature wise.Considering you are terminating 16 wires into a single wall switch it is well laid out and works as described. The compromise for having so many connections in one small space is you have to share negative posts (which is where two 16 ga wires and a single connector becomes difficult). I don't mind sharing the common for each L or R speakers, BUT sharing negative posts from two sources makes me nervous. The possiblity of moving wires on one of my amps on some future date and mixing the +/- such that the other amp would recieve an amplified signal though its neutral posts puts a lot of money at risk.I may opt ot enlarge the hole in the wall and go with a source switch that never lets any wires from the two sources see each other on purpose or by mistake.I was not expecting the output to the volume control between the source and the speaker selection... this is a nice convenient feature. In my case I did not use it as each of my speakers has its own volume control (now wiring diagram for that option... so I had to do my own).As far as using it... Its nice to finally have the option to play the same thing in my Master bedroom and master bath. The switch has been working GREAT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as expectedIt is pricey for a switch, but perfoms exactly the way I had hoped. With 2 sources, you have to jam 2 wires into one slot, which is impossible for low guage wire. Just a nit though. Wish I had the switch before I bought my volume control, as they would work better together.

Yes this allows two pairs of speakers to be plugged into two different sources and allows you to switch between them.

What volume control to use with this product?

This item will be installed in double gang low voltage box along with a volume control. I plan to hook up a pair of 8 ohm speakers on A switch, 8 ohm speakers on B switch, and then occassionally select A+B to play both pair of speakers. What volume control is recommended to make any needed impedence adjustments (if needed) when switching from playing 1 pair of speakers to both pair of speakers.

I have had experience with the VSS100. I think that in a double-ganged box it would work nicely. I installed 6 of these in my home about 5 years ago, and they have worked flawlessly since. They allowed me to just parallel all the speakers in the house without any type of distribution, since they are impedance matching.

Can this be used with a Tripath amp?

I understand that Tripath amps cannot share negative speaker terminals, but it looks like this switch does just that. Could you comment on that? I wouldn't want anybody blowing their new amp! If not compatible, can your recommend a switch that is?
Asked by: bluenut
You are correct, this switch cannot be used with a tripath amplifier. Unfortunately, this is the only switch of this kind that we carry, we do not have an alternate item that would be compatible with a tripath amplifier.
