Winegard HD-1080 2-Bay Bowtie Outdoor HDTV Antenna
Winegard HD-1080 2-Bay Bowtie Outdoor HDTV Antenna is rated 4.625 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture, easy to install and set up.I ditched the satellite in favor of over the air broadcast, and the picture is awesome. I easily removed the dish on top of my home and mounted this antenna with the included u-bolt and nuts, right to the satellite mast. The cable than ran into my home was already installed so I attached it right to the antenna. I added a splitter to get the signal to another room and the reception on both tv's is as clear as a bell. The instructions on how to put the antenna together are a little sketchy, but I think most people could do it without difficulty. Per the instructions, I mounted it loosely then checked reception. It was okay on some channels bot no on others. So I went in and looked up a map of where the stations broadcast from in my area, and aimed the antenna towards them, roughly. Presto, images were great! I tried several indoor antennas with boost, and none of them worked worth beans. Plus they had to be in a certain spot with a certain orientation and if I moved from where I was standing or sitting in the room my reception would fizzle! I miss sports on satellite, but that is about it. Movies, etc I get over the internet. The digital broadcast quality is higher than satellite. The channel selection is worse! But, cost is free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! We live at a high elevation in a densely populated urban area, and the reception with this antenna compared to an old Yagi array is outstanding. The over the air reception is razor sharp and there's been a definite upgrade in the audio. Stereo separation and imaging, even on a small screen set is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Antenna!I just got this product on 9/28/11. I saw reviews and even called Parts Express and it sounded like I was to far from the stations for this to work. I figured this is better than my set-top antenna with a broken fixture and for what? $40 I gave it a try. Parts Express under-promised and over-delivered. The description says "up to 40 miles". Well, Im 50 miles away from stations and my TV has most station's signal strength (abc, nbc, cbs, fox) PEGGED. WB channel and other locals are 70-80%. AND I just sort of set the item on a railing out back to test it out (pic). With a mast I expect everything to be 100%. Im shooting thru 100 foot pine trees so previous review about trees maybe had bad luck? (pic) Anyway, EXCELLENT!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too many trees!!Bought this antenna to receive local stations through off - air receiver Direct TV sent me. Liked price, compact size and specs.Unfortunately tall trees, topography (low country) and proximity to the ocean makes it tough to pick up any kind of signal down here - including radio broadcasts.I was trying to pick up stations some twenty miles away, but the only one I could receive was located six miles away and picture quality was poor.Spoke with local audio/video guy and he suggested wrapping 100 to 200 ft of speaker or lamp cord from joist to joist in the attic. He said that has worked for him on jobs where an antenna would not.

Do these work if you just plug the coax directly into the back of the tv or do you need some type of converter box as well?

Asked by: fd334
If you have a TV or HDTV with a digital tuner, every TV manufactured after March 2007, you can connect an antenna directly to the antenna input and receive all of your local digital and HDTV broadcast signals. After connecting the antenna, just run channel scan and the TV will add the digital channels to the tuner.

What are the included accessories?

I have a defunct dish network sat. dish mounted on my roof. I plan to use the " Winegard DS-1111 Antenna S-Mount for Satellite Dish 39" (210-130) with this antenna. Is there other parts I need to get beyond the mount and this antenna? Cables? adapters etc?
Asked by: wild wheelie
If you buy a Winegard SS-1000 (210-118), you can simply remove the dish from the mount and replace it with the antenna. Worked great for a few other people I've recommended to.

Can I split and hook up 2 TVs?

I have 2 TVs I'd like to hook up... so really this question is about HD antennas in general, but can you split the signal and send to 2 TVs? I would assume an amp of some sort would be necessary though. Thanks in advance!
Asked by: Lothar of the Hill People
You can use a good quality splitter on an HD antenna just like the old style antenna for analog channels. If you think you need a stronger signal, forget the useless amps and get a larger antenna. Amps are only good for splitters of multiple outputs to make up for splitter loss, but do not make the reception any better.

How well do these perform in an attic?

We live in Plano Texas, a suburb approximately 25 miles from most towers. This is arguably the most flat part of the country.... My HOA will not allow outside antenna's and therefore need performance inside my one story attic, your thoughts?
Asked by: Rookie in Plano
Although it's not marketed as indoor/outdoor, we do have several reviews from customers using it in their attics with good results. I would encourage you to try it. If you're not completely satisfied for any reason, simply take advantage of our 45-day no hassle return policy.
