Visaton W250S-8 10" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

Visaton's 9035 W250S 10" woofer features a coated paper cone, durable rubber surround, and a bumped back plate to allow all 5 mm of Xmax to be used with an excursion limit of ±7 mm. A balanced design approach between sensitivity, smooth frequency response (cross it over as high as 2,500 Hz), and extended bass allows this driver to be used as a high-output HiFi woofer in three-way speaker systems or as a subwoofer.

Note: For best bass performance, install the W250S into one of the following cabinets:
• A 1.77 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 43 Hz with two 2-1/2" diameter ports that are 5-3/4" long.
• A 2.47 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 39 Hz with two 2-1/2" diameter ports that are 5-3/4" long.
• A 3.53 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 34 Hz with two 2-1/2" diameter ports that are 3-15/16" long.

Visaton W250S-8 10" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

I have a pair of 1.35 cu.ft. cabinets and want to build a 2-way ported system. Tweeters are PE phenolic ring, driven by 11wpc tube amp. Is this a good choice for a woofer? If yes, I'll need x-over point and port size. Also considering Visiton W250-8.

Asked by: mcm62
This woofer will work. A 3" diameter port that is 9" long will tune the enclosure to 35 Hz. A 2,500 Hz crossover would be a good choice for this combination.

Can this subwoofer be used in a downward firing sealed box?

Asked by: jamin
This will work well for a downfiring application although it will be a little better suited for a ported enclosure.

Sealed Enclosure?

Hi,I have a 1.6cf sealed cab ready and I'm debating between this driver and the Dayton Audio DS270-8 10". Which would be a better choice? I'm not looking to get extended deep bass out of it, I am augmenting with a subwoofer. I am looking for mid-low punch. Thanks!
Asked by: nonsuchpro
The Dayton will be better suited for a cabinet like this. You can expect in room response into the low 30's.
