Visaton W200S-8 8" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

Visaton's 9030 W200S 8" woofer features a coated paper cone, durable rubber surround, and a bumped back plate to allow all 3.5 mm of Xmax to be used with an excursion limit of ±10 mm. A balanced design approach between sensitivity, smooth frequency response (cross it over as high as 2,800 Hz), and extended bass allows this driver to be used as a woofer in two and three-way speaker systems or as a subwoofer.

Note: For best bass performance, install the W200S into one of the following cabinets:
• A 0.53 cubic foot sealed cabinet (F3 will be 70 Hz with a Qtc of 0.7).
• A 0.71 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 45 Hz with a 2" diameter port that is 5-1/2" long.
• A 1.06 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 39 Hz with a 2" diameter port that is 4-3/8" long.
• A 1.77 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 33 Hz with a 2-1/2" diameter port that is 5-1/8" long.

Visaton W200S-8 8" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

i am going to use the 8 inch visiton woofer  46 dollars each. the cabinet will be 1.77 cubic do figure out for bracing and damping thanks dave

Asked by: davewes
We usually recommend a half pound of stuffing per cubic foot of volume, so just under 2 pounds would be a good starting point here. There is no real rule of thumb for bracing, you just want to strengthen the sides of the cabinet to reduce resonance.

Will this speaker work better with the Dayton Audio DC28FS-8 1-1/8" Silk Dome Shielded Tweeter or Visaton DT94-8 0.8" Polycarbonate Dome Tweeter 8ohm?

I will be powering my 2 way speaker system with a 100 watt per channel stereo and use a 2500 hz crossover. Basically WILL THIS SYSTEM WORK? and which tweeter will work better and why?
Asked by: gmoneygreen
There is no reason this will not work. I would recommend the Dayton tweeter with that crossover point.

This speaker has an xmax of 3.5mm How does it have a max excursion of plus or minus 10mm. What is the difference? I thought they were the same.

Asked by: rlevister
Xmax is a linear distance meaning this cone can travel 3.5mm in each direction and still stay within the magnetic gap. The maximum excursion defines the mechanical limits of the driver, meaning it can physically move 10mm before the voice coil former actually hits the back plate of the magnet.
