A foam surround and ribbed, treated paper cone offer longevity while capturing that classic sound from the golden era of loudspeakers. Visaton W170-8 6.5" Woofer 8 Ohm
Visaton W170-8 6.5" Woofer 8 Ohm is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to beat for the priceI used a pair of these as replacement woofers for an old pair of Infinity bookshelf speakers I picked up for free. The box and tweeters are in good shape so I searched to find a woofer that I could use as a replacement for the 6.75" diameter factory woofer. This woofer, as you can see from the measurements listed on the web page, measures 6.7" which is as close as I could find to the factory woofer. This Visaton woofer is made for a sealed enclosure, which is what I needed, and most importantly this woofer was in my price range. In the picture you can see the old woofer is rotted out (top speaker). The bottom speaker has the new Visaton woofer installed.Overall I was very pleased with the performance of these Visaton woofers. I was hoping for a little more bass punch but they do sound very good.I would purchase this speaker again should a need arise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Your Car...I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe that had one speaker fail in the rear doors. I tried four different brands of "auto" speakers before I finally installed these Visatons. I read all the websites that recommended this speaker and that, and after installed they all sounded horrible. So I just stopped and thought for awhile. The stock, OEM speaker was an 8 ohm that required very little power, so after a long search I decided on these, and let me tell you, they sound FANTASTIC, probably even better than the OEM speakers. I can hear the sub in back again without making my ears bleed from the obnoxious screeching that was coming from the many different coaxial speakers I had installed. They just didn't work. What I have found is number one, the speakers have to be 8 ohm, number two, they have to take a small amount of power to drive, and these were perfect. They sound great. If you have an 8 ohm, OEM car speaker that's a single cone configuration, don't hesitate to install a set of these. I highly recommend them.

Visaton W170-8 6.5" Woofer 8 Ohm

I was wondering which crossover you sell would work well with this woofer and the dayton classic silk dome tweeter?

Asked by: Jetsfan99
A good crossover for this combination would be below. You may need to add an L-pad to the tweeter, but that will be up to you.

Light duty sub work?

I was wondering if you think this would be suitable as a sub to go with the Lepai 2.1 amp anda couple little two ways? Its xmax is healthy and I don't need it to go super low just fill in for a little computer 2.1 setup for a gift.
Asked by: Altoman188
This would be OK for a subwoofer but really you can get better results with something like our Dayton DC160-8(4) woofers for just a few more bucks. If you decide to use this, I would recommend a 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure with heavy stuffing for best results.
