Visaton W100S-8 4" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

Visaton's 9021 W100S 4" woofer features a coated paper cone and durable rubber surround. A very balanced frequency response allows the W100S to be used as a woofer in small two-way speakers or a midbass/midrange in three-way speakers, with a crossover point as high as 5,000 Hz. This allows you to build a surround sound system with large speakers for front and left, while maintaining the same voicing in smaller surround satellite speakers.

Note: For best bass performance, install the W130S into one of the following cabinets:
• A 0.14 cubic foot sealed cabinet (F3 is 100 Hz with a Qtc of 0.7).
• A 0.17 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 70 Hz with a 1-1/4" diameter port that is 2-3/8" long.
• A 0.35 cubic foot cabinet tuned to 56 Hz with a 1-1/4" diameter port that is 2" long.

Visaton W100S-8 4" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm
Visaton W100S-8 4" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from little speaker with quite big soundI bought many visaton speakers used in good price. One pair of them was W100S8 and W100S4. I have to admit that I don't know why, but I like the sound of these speakers. It is really dynamic and quite warm. I have also AL130 and W130SC and I can say that midrange of W100S is easy listnenig, bass is 'deep' as for such small speaker (Fs=63Hz). Ofcourse when using fullrange the power limit is low.

Visaton W100S-8 4" Woofer with Treated Paper Cone 8 Ohm

this driver has an extended freq response , could it be used full range without a tweeter with good results.

Asked by: spunky
I think that would depend on your use. If they are just for background, sure. They will lack detail up high of course, and "up high" may be lower than you think. For background or fill sound, that should be less of a problem. If you are using them for rear or surround speakers, you'll notice this less as those channels are often more midrange.I haven't used these speakers, so the best I can do is guess for you.
