Vifa XT25TG30-04 1" Dual Ring Radiator Tweeter

This superb transducer features a patented dual concentric diaphragm and a unique wave guide center plug which provide an excellent on- and off-axis response. The XT25-type tweeter is acclaimed for its very natural sound with an extremely smooth frequency response that extends well beyond the human hearing range. The dual chamber design and absence of ferrofluid results in a low resonance frequency.

Vifa XT25TG30-04 1" Dual Ring Radiator Tweeter
Vifa XT25TG30-04 1" Dual Ring Radiator Tweeter is rated 4.7143 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely nice tweeter!! Vastly superior to other Vifa's I have usedI'm using this tweeter in a two way, large bookshelf paired with a Goldwood GW-10PC-8 10" woofer. The tweeter is crossed second order at around 2400hz. I used the XT to replace a Vifa BC25SG15-04 and the difference is night and day! The BC was always harsh in the 1-2k area even with LCR network. I dropped this XT in without any changes to crossover or attenuation network and WOW! It sounds so buttery and smooth. Vocals are so much cleaner now and the top end sparkles, crisp and clear with zero harshness. It is interesting to note that the BC tweeter is rated 2db higher in efficiency, yet the XT sounds a bit louder using the same attenuation network.I highly recommend this tweeter! It may be the cleanest and smoothest one I have heard. You will certainly discover new details in your music. The dispersion is amazing. Two rooms away and the highs sound almost as clear as in the same room!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT tweeter at GREAT priceThese are the tweeters I've been looking for all my life! they are crisp, accurate, detailed, smooth, and completely non fatiguing. the off axis response is great as well and the price is great too. there's some very in depth reviews on these (google zaphaudio) and some other sites comparing them to tweeters that cost 10x more and these are comparable in frequency range, harmonic distortion, decay etc.VERY highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TweeterI purchased these after deciding on not buying some Morel Supremos and am very happy so far. They have an amazing freq range but still are able to provide crisp high's. I am using a pair in my truck crossed @2K, 12dB and am wowed by the range and buttery smooth output. Now I have another reason to buy another pair for some main house speakers. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far superior to the Vifa XT25SC90-04Just really quickly, have to say that in terms of smoothness, power handling, and where the resonance is located, this tweeter is far superior to the one that you might call its little brother, the Vifa XT25SC90-04. I'd say the only similarity is in the fact that they are both 1" ring tweeters. If you pay the extra few bucks, you get back way more than the difference in price.FWIW, this difference in price used to be much bigger, but has closed up a lot over the last year as the price of the Vifa XT25SC90-04 has doubled due to the scarcity of rare earth metals for its neo-based motor, whereas the Vifa XT25TG30-04 has a ferrite-based motor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bang For Your BuckThis is an excellent tweeter, with nearly ruler-flat response and excellent dispersion. Its total harmonic distortion is amazingly low for a tweeter in this price range. Overall, this is a favorite amongst many DIY'ers and for good reason: its performance and price make it an excellent value.I would like to correct a statement made by a previous reviewer, regarding the XT25's ability to play LOUD. In actual fact, the XT25 tweeter can play VERY loudly... but only if special care is taken when designing a crossover for it. For one thing, I would never try to cross over an XT25 tweeter below 2200 Hz., despite its low Fs. That's point number one. Also, I strongly suggest using a third-order network on this tweeter, so as to further ensure that it won't be pushed too low in frequency. Also, the addition of a properly calculated L-C-R conjugate network, to suppress the XT25's resonant peak, is likewise highly recommended. Lastly, the XT25 seems to produce a bit of extra energy in the 5 to 8 kilohertz range, which can cause it to sound somewhat sibilant... especially at high volume levels. So the addition of either a passive "trap" filter or better yet, some active equalization, is a good way to eliminate that issue. When properly implemented, the Vifa XT25 is a very smooth and clean-sounding tweeter. And if properly protected by a carefully designed crossover network, it can play loud enough to shatter glass. Overall, it's just an excellent tweeter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY NICE TWEETER! A pleasure to work with...After working with a cheap TangBand on the last design, this tweeter seems to be in another league. Up close the tweeter is flat within 2-3db. I'm using it at 2,000Hz with a 3rd order crossover. The harmonic distortion is minimal, and you can tell. What I like is the gradual 2db dip from 4,000-10,000Hz. This must have been intentional, because that is where out ears are most sensitive. Cheaper versions of this tweeter have been used in multi-thousand dollar designs, so it's a safe bet as a top notch tweeter. And it does play pretty loud if your not using it for PA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wowone word...WOW. They really do sound great. airy, accurate and fast. everything you want from a tweeter. But they are a little fussy with getting them to blend right..spend a little extra time in the xover building and you will be much happier with them. Also these are NOT a heavy LOUD DJ like tweeter. They will play loud...but... more at an audiophile level..if you really like to Crank up the music and jam out some heavy rock/metal or rap/hip-hop AT OBSCENE volume levels, this IS NOT your tweeter. They are fantastic for unplugged recordings, jazz, classical, soft rock and pop. they can handle the heavier side of things, but the sound quality will suffer as the volume levels go nuts and they'll more than likely fry if you play them at those levels for extended periods of time. Now Don't get me wrong, they can handle plenty of power, and you will get great use of them, i think these are an excellent value, but certain drivers do perform better than others for certain types of music material.

Can I use these in a energy 22

I know the 22 is a 8 ohm tweeter is there anyway I can adapt this tweeter ?
Asked by: wsissons
I would not recommend swapping an 8 ohm for a 4 ohm. Your crossover point will change and updating the tweeter will likely hurt rather than help the sound.

I plan on mounting this tweeter in the same airspace as a pair of woofers. The enclosure will be ported, so the pressure won't be as high, but I'm curious if I should worry about building a small enclosure behind the tweeter to prevent midrange from destroying the tweeter?
Asked by: Icantusemyrealname
Tweeters are typically in sealed enclosures already - unless they are referred to as "dipolar" like the NEO 3 or NEO 8 by BG. So you don't need a separate enclosure. In rare cases, some tweeters to have venting on the back to keep the pressure off of the diaphragm. In all cases - speakers should not share air space.

Good woofer match?

I'd like to try this tweet for a simple two-way; anyone have a good recommendation for a woofer? I've done a bunch of car audio and amp projects, but this is my first ground-up home audio build, so I'd prefer to keep crossover complexity to a minimum. I'm probably going to make a few different enclosures to try out, so flexibility for sealed or vented would be a plus. Going for 90% music listening.THANKS!!
Asked by: Halcyon
This tweeter is very easy to work with, and could blend well with virtually any smaller woofer (say, 8" or smaller) in a two-way system. The simplest crossover in recorded history is a first order (6dB/octave) high pass filter consisting of a single capacitor. This tweeter could be treated thusly with a 5.6µF capacitor, which will provide a gently sloping crossover frequency of about 3500Hz. You'd want to use a woofer that will play up to (but not much beyond) that approximate frequency, and simply leave the woofer unmolested to play up to its full range, at which point it will naturally roll off and let the tweeter take over. Is there a minimum optimal listening distance for "Ring Radiator Tweeters"?

Do ring tweeters offer less dispersion as apposed to traditional dome tweeters? Would they need to be on axis for a flat response, as the spec sheet response graph suggests to me? Are there better suited tweeter options for building speakers for a small room (or perhaps a car) with a listening distance of just under 2 meters? I have used the Seas 27TFFNCG in a car (close and slightly off axis listening) with good results, but the design here seems different enough for me to ask.
Asked by: Miketoo
No. Most speaker specs are measured 1W @ 1M. Listening distance is a matter of personal taste, or tolerance in this case. You never want to sit too close to tweeters.I have used piezos in car-audio because of thier brightness [and cheapness, get stolen alot out of cars]. These can be used as well and may not be as directional as other tweeters.Again you would have to try them to determine if they perform as you like...

Is this for one tweeter or a pair?

Asked by: nice186
This is a single tweeter. It has a unique design that uses dual rings, as opposed to a dome or cone as most tweeters use.
