Vifa NE123W-08 4" Full Range Woofer Speaker
What's the correct baffle cutout ? PE page is currently showing it as 4.37" this doesn't seem to match the spec sheet 98cm
The spec sheet is accurate, I will have the website updated.

This is in addition to my first question, If the speakers range is 60-8k hz and the Fs is 61
Why would it struggle to achieve 70hz at the low end. If the vented box was a little bigger...say .20 cu ft would that be better ? Most people, including me, try to crossover to a sub-woofer at around 80 Hz. I was figuring 70 Hz to be on the safe side. I generally don't listen to music at loud levels and many times I'm listening at low levels, but would like the ability to play loud should I desire. If there is another speaker that might fit my needs better...like a full ranger...feel free to point one out. Thanks for your answer and for any that follow.
It is not really the box size that keeps this driver from playing that low it can play 70hz fine, the problem with drivers this small is they just don't have the displacement needed to play super loud. In my simulation the excursion peak is at 100hz, and it reaches that with only 13 watts, however this will give you close to 100dB. If your loud is under about 90 dB at listening position (quite loud) then you should be safe, I just like my speakers to be capable of a bit more then that. For a 4 inch woofer 100db is pretty good and I doubt you can do much better without going up to a larger driver.

I'd like to use this driver as a mid/woofer and cross it over to the tweeter at 5k hz in a two way minimonitor
I like the idea of letting a somewhat larger speaker like a four incher do the heavy lifting in the 1k-5k hz range and bring in a tweeter to pull out the highest notes. Even a good full range 4" would be up for the job. Any advice and/or is this not a good idea. I'm fine with the bass going down to just 70 hz or so. I'm using a subwoofer. Thinking about the Morel mdt 12 or Tang Band 28-847sd to go along with this Vifa. Also, any vented box volume suggestions. Throw in a sealed box volume just for curiosity sake also. Thanks very much in advance.
You should be good with this one running up to around 5-6khz.For box sizes a .15 cubic foot with a 1.5" diameter by 5" long port looks good, tuning is at 72 hz and f3 is just below that.In a sealed box your looking at 0.07 cubic feet for a qtc of .7, the f3 is ~130hz and your down 11 dB at 70hz.I say the ported look better if you go with your 70 hz crossover point, but the driver is still going to be stressed to play that low at anything over moderate volume levels.
