Velleman 30W Stereo Audio Amplifier Kit is rated 4.2667 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Size/Value/Power BalanceThis small unit is excellent; it is very customizable, and it's small size allows it to have a wide variety of applications. I'm using it with a set of small speakers to use with my laptop. Also, it reaches a surprisingly decent volume with low distortion on a set of 8 ohm speakers. I'm definately going to buy another one in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally finished itI have had the amp built and the transformer waiting to be hooked up for a year! Finally finished it and wow! This is a great little amp, very clean and good bass. It's not a powerhouse but for the size and cost it has no equal. PE should be selling the Velleman Tone and volume unit to go with this amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AmazingI use this in the garage (my workshop). I had an Adcom GFA-555 powering B&W DM600s (old system - I have Martin Logan CLS IIs powered by and Adcom GFA-5500 in the living room), but I needed cash to fund my projects (building speakers, vacuum tube amps, etc.) so I sold the Adcom and bought this to replace it. I have to say I can't really tell the difference in sound quality - it's that good. Bass response is still excellent. Of course it doesn't blast the garage doors off, but still plays louder than I like to have it. Overall, extremely satisfied - I will buy this again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but powerful!Recently purchased the 30 watt kit for my MP3 speaker box project. Amp has plenty of power. Velleman kit very high quality. I will be building another box with another 30 watt amp and the Velleman K8084 Tone/Volume board.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crisp, Clean, Affordable PowerExcellent amp kit for the DIY'er. Be sure to install the mica insulator between the heat sink and chip, if not you'll end up with a chip connected directly to ground and sparks will fly! Be sure to pick up some thermal grease (not included in the kit) you'll need this to put in between the mica inusulator, heat sink, and amplifier chip. Amp sounds great when used within its limits. Good luck and have fun!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice starter kitgreat starter kit, easy to build. Remarkably good sound. You do need to order a transformer (not included). Also it does not come with a volume control. Velleman does make separate kits for volume and tone control as well as a speaker protection kit in case you blow your transformer. Would highly recommend looking for these additions.

One transformer for multiple amps?

I'd like to build a six-channel amp with three of these kits. Do I need a separate transformer for each amp or will a single transformer suffice for supplying current to each amp?
Asked by: Ryno Milner
The Velleman 30 watt amp kit requires only 12 volts and 2 amps to perform within it's specifications. If you desire to run multiple amplifiers, you can buy or build a large power supply and power multiples. If you power supply was 10 amps output then you could power 5 amplifier kits.Good Luck

Can this product run off a motorcycle battery?thanks
Asked by: johny why
It would probably need a pair of them at least. You would stack the batteries in a series string and tie the center to ground. Otherwise it would work. The power would be reduced somewhat. For full power you would need about 33 volts DC, round about. I'd also suggest you take a closer look at some of the other amplifier modules, this one is a bit too minimalistic for my tastes.

Do you sell something to power this amp?

Asked by: George60600424
Yeah, I think I found the part you need. (see below),Any 2x12V or 24vct transformer should do.

I just ordered 2 Dayton ND90's. I have read conflicting info on this amp output (not on this site), can these speakers handle this amp's output?

Asked by: RJUL
Yes, the ND90s should do just fine with this amplifier.

Can we bridge two channels into mono to support more power?

Asked by: Raymond
No, this unit is not designed to operate in a bridged mode. Doing so would most likely damage the unit, and void the warranty.
