Rated 1 out of 5 by from topping tp22Sending mine back. It has strange sound. I read a review somewhere about iswould play well with my Maggie MMG's. No way. Sounded Tragically Bad.Tried out several other speakers I have on hand. Sounded OK at best. I wasntimpressed ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality T AmpNot quite as loud as the DTA100 but in a very good way. Clean and clear gain all the way to the top. I use the TP22 to drive a pair of studio reference monitors. No headphone jack but I didn't need it. There are 2 inputs in the back so you can still hook up your iPhone with an adapter (not included) in addition to whatever your regularly running. Binding posts make speaker wiring easy. Highly recommended. Thanks for reading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional "little" Integrated Amplifier.I recently purchased the Topping TP22 TK2050 Class T Amplifier 30WPC from Parts Express and am pleased with the purchase. I will note right off though that this is my second TP22; the first one arrived and had “issues” immediately upon startup (the left channel was 10 dB weaker than the right. I measure this with a mono source and dB meter - -unweighted). All was resolved after a quick call to the Parts Express (PE) Customer Service line. PE processed a no-questions asked exchange and one week later I had my system up and running. The TP22 is replacing a larger (60 watts/channel) A/B integrated amplifier that was built like a tank and had a bunch of nice but unneeded features. And to be honest, in my room, under my typical listening setting, I do not hear a difference in SPL between the two (I can get head-banging loud without the TP22 putting up a fuss.) What I do hear is a much more spacious soundstage - side to side, front to back. My stand-mount speakers really do disappear with the right music. I always thought this cliché, but it really does happen (with the right kit.) Considering my speakers cutoff (at +/-3 dB) around 60 Hz, there is not a lot of “punch”. If I could hook up my sub it would be interesting to hear how the amp does with that. The base, while not punchy is well controlled. The high end is not rolled off or harsh and the mids are not overly analytical or warm. Acoustic based music is a joy to listen to. Now for my nit-picks . . .I would like to have a pre-amp out so that I can add my powered sub-woofer. Also, a remote control for the volume would be nice (but not necessary). And I would like to have power ratings into 8 ohms (it seems a bit disingenuous to rate power at 4 ohms just to inflate the number some). More power is always nice, but at this price I can’t complain. Of these nit-picks, I would prefer the pre-amp out. I suppose I could purchase a new set of speakers, thus obviating the need for a sub, but I really like the stand-mounts I have. So, there you have it, a great little T-Amp, at a fair price, backed by exemplary customer service. You can’t go wrong with this combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Amp !This is my first time using a separate amp so I don't have too much to directly compare it with in this configuration.I'm using this amp to drive a pair of NHT Absolute Zeros from a X-Fi HD Soundcard in a 2.1 config. Plenty of power even though I'm running it full range currently and it sounds much 'clearer' than my Pioneer receiver I was using before.Runs cool, doesn't sound like it's ever straining, and feels like a quality piece of gear. The small rubber feet weren't even though so it wobbled on my desk until I adjusted that. Kinda feel stupid even mentioning that though.I think a line out instead of another input would be cool to have a way to feed a sub without using 'y' cables or anything. Thinking about adding a minidsp to take care of that maybe.Been looking for a new amp for a long time. For the quality of sound and price these amps seem tough to beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets ExpectationsI was looking for a small amp to drive a pair of mid-sized bookshelf speakers and the Topping amp was a great find. Great response and sound quality. Construction of the device is solid. I'm using it in conjunction with an AirPort Express to listen to my large music library wirelessly and it is the perfect solution for that need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerfully CleanI bought the TP22 as a step-up from the TP20 (original design, not the one currently offered by Parts Express). I had been enjoying the TP20, problem-free, for almost two years but wanted more power and better/more flexible connection options.Whereas the TP20 had only spring-loaded speaker connections and a single 3.5mm stereo jack for an input, the TP22 has gold-plated 5-way binding posts for speakers and dual gold-plated RCA inputs. While the newer version of the TP20 (MK2) has improved rear connections over the original design, its what's inside the TP22 that IMHO makes it the better choice for anyone trying to decide between the two.Simply stated, the TP22 has much more power and with significantly less distortion - it puts out 15 very-clean Watts per channel into 8 Ohms. While my old TP 20 will drive a pair of Monitor Audio Radius 90HDs to a satisfying level, they can begin to sound a bit ragged if the volume is pushed up. (The R90HDs are not a particularly difficult load with an 8 Ohm rating but their sensitivity of 87 dB is a little on the low side). The TP22 made these speakers blossom: they can be cranked to ear-splitting levels with no audible distortion and, I would swear, there is better definition in the limited amount of base that the speakers have and with a noticeable improvement in imaging. This is getting a bit long but I must note that I had to return the first TP22 that PE delivered to me as it was D.O.A. (I believe it was actually a bad power supply.) The exchange was handled very efficiently and PE had a replacement unit at my door three business days after my phone call. I deducted one star for the bad power supply and one "Value" point because, ironically, I would actually have paid more for this unit if it had a better power supply, which I consider very "valuable".Bottom line - this thing is great: whether it is used to drive Zone 2 speakers as I am doing or as the basis for a stand-alone mini system cleanly driving just about any speaker of reasonable specs.

Topping TP22 TK2050 (TC2000/TP2050) Class T Digital Mini Amplifier 30WPC

This with Dayton B652 and Dayton sub 1200?

I have a dayton sub 1200 and Dayton Dta100 but that amp stopped working within the first hour of use. I was wondering if this amp would work ok with the Sub 1200 and 2 Dayton b652 speakers. Im new to this and im trying to understand wattage and ohms but its confusing. The B652 are 40 watt rms and the sub is 120 watt rms and im having trouble understanding how this amp would work with those properly. this may be a stupid question but im new to this. Also if this amp can support that ok then how much "more" could it take? Thanks
Asked by: Codys
Yes this amplifier will work fine for this application. You will have to wire the Topping amp into the speaker level inputs on the Sub-1200 and plug the B652 speakers into the speaker level outputs on the Sub-1200. Adjust the frequency and gain on the subwoofer until it sounds good and thats all there is to it.

Bridge / Parallel this Amp?

Many other sites quote that this amp can produce 40W Mono on a single channel. Can I simply bridge the outputs on this amp (what would happen if I did)? Or do I need to solder the chip pins as referenced below in the Tripath spec sheet for the TK2050:"With the outputs connected in parallel, however, the TK2050 is capable of driving single channel loads down to 4 Ohms with very high power capability. For stereo mode operation, the TK2050 is a dual full bridge. For parallel mode operation, the TK2050can be configured as a single full bridge with double current capability by connecting the CONFIG pin to the VDD pin of the TP2050."

stand alone or pre amp

to use this amp with an ipod, imac, sony walkman cd player and sony walkman radio would I need a pre amp ? Some sort of tone control would be nice.Thanks.
Asked by: aardvark 44
Small portable devices tend to have weaker outputs than home components. A preamp would be a great idea, especially if you like to tinker with tone controls like I do. I use a T-amp with a Adcom preamp and Oppo cd player. I set the volume on the T-amp about 1/2 way and leave it. It's a subjective setting, but it works well for me.

Can I use a 19V power supply?

I have an interesting Li-Ion battery pack that powers the 12v Lepai fine, but I can switch it up to 19v. Could this AMP take one less volt?
Asked by: Orden
While the TK2050 spec sheet says the chip can operate at up to 24 volts, the rest of the amplifier may have been designed to work with the voltage specified on the back of the unit. Any power supply that exceeds the specified voltage may indeed work fine, but you will surely void the manufacturer's warranty. Try contacting the manufacturer through their website and perhaps they can give a more concise answer.

Could I use this Amp to fire up 6 OHM 100W speakers?

I'm very new to this and I just purchased NHT Absolute Zero bookshelf speakers from a friend. This speaker has 6 OHM 100W input and I was wondering if TP22 TK2050 will deliver decent sound. I'm planning to use this system in my bedroom.THANKS!
Asked by: JPFI
The short answer is yes, this amp will work fine with your speakers. I’d guess this amp will put out about 20 watts/channel into 6 ohms which will probably be plenty for your bedroom. I suspect most amps would work fine for your application. An amp that works with a 4 and 8 ohm load will work with a 6 ohm load. Speaker impedance varies considerably over frequency, and the “Ohm” rating is the approximate minimum speaker impedance. The 100 watt rating on your speaker it the maximum it can handle, not the required amount of power. However, the max power rating of speakers should be taken with a grain of salt since it depends on many factors, in particular duration and frequency. Many speakers can handle 100 watts for a very short period at low frequencies; few can take 100 watts forever at high frequencies.
