Topping TP21 Class T Digital Mini Amplifier 25 WPC with Headphone Output
Topping TP21 Class T Digital Mini Amplifier 25 WPC with Headphone Output is rated 4.5714 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great productSound quality of this little amp is excellent. It's extremely compact - so a good option for a computer desk, office, bedroom or kitchen.I'm using it in a bedroom with a couple of bookshelf speakers. I recently watched a movie, and I was impressed with the tight full bass considering I only had a set of bookshelf speakers. Sound was great with music as well. It's not going to shake your house; you'll need more than 25WPC for super high volume, but it goes as loud as I want to listen with no deterioration in quality at high volume. I think the ideal application for this product is a bedroom, kitchen, office, etc. where you want high quality audio, but you don't have the space or need for a 5.1/7.1 home theater. This also seems like a great audio component for a kid's room. This amp plus a set of used bookshelf speakers would make a great starter system for a kid to connect a laptop or MP3 player.I'm already considering putting another one of these in my kitchen and connecting it to a laptop and some mini speakers.Watch for sales. There are a few variants of these Topping amps, and sometimes one configuration or another seems to have a big discount. The one feature that I'd love to add to this is a remote for power and volume. However, given the price, it's understandable that it's just a manual volume knob and power switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TP21 Front Panel Power SwitchWho sez you cant have a front panel power switch!I really wanted one for convience so I went for it. Lots a room inside - pretty simple if yer brave enough!Nice amp - Using it to drive motorcycle helmet speakers. I gutted a pair of respectable studio headphones and stuck the elements inside my helmet. Didn't feel like I had quite enough headroom using the headphone jack so I wired the elements direct to the speaker outputs. As noted by many others - remember the negatives are not common to each other - takes 4 seperate wires. Sound is really nice. Unfortunately at 50+MPH wind noise is pretty bad but at low speeds the sound quality it really good. No fault of the gear - just the way it is!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean Little AmpWe're using this to power a pair of JBL Control 1 5-1/4" speakers. It has a clean, crisp sound with good bass. This amp doesn't have enough power for much larger speakers, unless your driving horns. For a small installation of bookshelf speakers it sounds great, runs cold and comes in a nice aluminum box.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sweet sound but not as much kick as I expected.I purchased this and Lepai LP-2020A+ at same time. Topping is very clean sounding but just did not have as much kick with volume turned up as I expected. Was just driving some Minimus 7 and other smallish speakers when testing. Feature wise, it would be nice to have 3.5mm input jack. The Lepai was more than adequate for my needs at about a third the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect portable AMP!!!I bought this amp to power a backpack with speakers. The sound is incredible. I take it everywhere with me, I use it for skiing, camping, and the beach. It is efficient enough to run off of 10AA rechargeable batteries for about 6 hours at a decent volume. The amp is well built and can take a beating. It has an incredible amount of Volume with sensitive speakers, 91db spl. Check out the youtube video of the pack.

Topping TP21 Class T Digital Mini Amplifier 25 WPC with Headphone Output

Is this okay to use with a turntable and phono preamp?

The word "digital" in the title has me wondering if an analog system would be a match with this amp.
      Asked by: knewburygreen
Since digital speakers don't exist, all digital amps must output analog audio. Most have analog to digital converter circuits . All you need is a phono preamp which has gain and the RIAA curve needed for flat response from a magnetic phono cartridge. The inventor of the RIAA curve was the legendary Les Paul! The #248-6348 would be a good choice for this. Bob

Powering via 12volt battery for off the grid use?

Am new to Class T Amps and have some questions regarding the Topping TP21.I'm considering using this amp for a portable remote camp music system using my Sansa Fuze MP3 and a pair of bookshelf speakers. Would it work to power the amp from a Deep Cycle 12v Group 24 size Battery rated for 550 cold cranking amps? If so, where would I find a power cable to provide power to the amp's input connector?
      Asked by: NorCal
The battery should power this unit fine. If your worried that the extra amps provided by the battery may harm the unit consider putting an inline fuse. If you don't mind destroying the included power supply you could splice the wire with butt connectors and some shrink wrap. I'm sure you could get a battery terminal cable from an auto parts store.

      Topping TP21 VS Dayton DTA-100a

Which one sounds better between these two amps?
      Asked by: Royy
First let me state that, while I own the DTA-100 (not the 100a), I do not own, nor have I ever heard, the Topping TP21.That said, and with that as a consideration for you, it is my opinion that the DTA-100a would be the more desirable amplifier. The first reason for my opinion is that, based on the published specifications, the DTA-100a is, by far, the more powerful amplifier; it produces 30W/channel @ 0.1% THD (8 Ohms) whereas the TP21 is rated at only 7W/channel at similar distortion and impedance. This will allow for a much greater dynamic range with the DTA-100a, important if you play music with wide dynamics (much of classical music, for example). This is an important consideration to take into account. The second reason is that the DTA-100a is also slightly less expensive than the TP21, though the difference is small and this consideration is of much less importance.I can tell you that the DTA-100 is a superb amplifier in every regard. The sound produced is first-class in every way. (I'm sure you realize that a good amplifier is supposed to produce no actual "sound" of its own.) It easily drives any speaker pair with which I have tried it. I do not think a 7W/channel amplifier would acquit itself as well. The above is strictly my own opinion, based on owning only the DTA-100, but I hope that it is of some use to you. Remember that if you buy a DTA-100a and it were unsatisfactory (but I know it won't be!), you could return it to Parts Express. Though I've had to return only one item (not a Dayton Audio products) in the several years with which I've been dealing with them, their customer service department made the process easy and pleasant. Parts Express even paid for the return shipping.

can you use an external preamp with these amplifiers

It is possible to use an external preamp like the gemini7000? In order to use additional inputs, and to have better tone quality?thank you .
      Asked by: iowa057
Yes, of course you can. The amp has a left and right analog RCA input on the back panel....in addition to a left and right speaker output. This is, by all accounts, just like any other amplifier.....it amplifies a signal that it is fed through the RCA inputs. This input can be feeding from a CD player directly, or a preamp that has several devices connected to it. Think of it as a standard stereo receiver, but without the built-in input selection and am/fm tuner, etc. It has just the basics....and power on button and a volume control.

What it the Headphone chipset ( it is not the same as the TA2021 tripath speaker driver )

TA2021 chipset is NOT compatible with common ground between channels. All consumer stereo headphones share a common ground between channels. ( L+ R+ Ground )
