Temperature Controlled Soldering Iron 50 Watt
Temperature Controlled Soldering Iron 50 Watt is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better Than I Ever Expected!I purchased this after getting tired of using a cheap R.S. 40 watt iron that overheats and took ages to get there. I wanted a temperature controlled iron, but couldn't shell out the money for the Weller or Stahl at the time and took a gamble with this unit. I was very happy to see that it has a three prong AC cord, which means the metal parts are grounded. The end of the handle does get warm sometimes, but it doesn't get warm where I hold it. I would like the cord to be longer, the cheap R.S. unit it replaced had a longer cord. I'm not sure if replacement tips are available, however the included tip has a great coating and proper care should keep it clean.

how do you or even change the iron's tips?

Asked by: wes1965
In order to remove the tip you have to losen the two small phillips screws that are near the tip, then the tip itself screws out. I have confirmed that our ECG tips will fit the iron.
