Tectonic Elements 19 mm TEAX19C01-8 exciter continues their tradition of making magical devices (Distributed Mode Loudspeakers) that turn virtually any surface into a high fidelity loudspeaker. The exciter's small size enables audio reproduction in applications where installing conventional speakers just isn't possible, such as windows, monitors—even picture frames!

The TEAX19C01-8 exciter uses a neodymium magnet to increase magnetic flux around the voice coil. This results in increased sensitivity, which reduces power requirements and allows low power amplifiers to be used without sacrificing total output.

3M™ VHB™ tape is pre-installed on each exciter and offers unsurpassed surface adhesion while spreading the stress load across the entire length of the joint. This ensures maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached. Two terminals extend from the exciter for wire soldering purposes.

Note: an exciter's frequency response and sensitivity are completely dependent on the exciter's designated surface. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to be louder and facilitate mid/tweeter response. Thicker, larger materials will be slightly quieter but result in a more full-range sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where the power ends up.I use a lot of these (TEAX18C01-8). Compared to the 3 watt exciter by Dayton Audio (DAEX13CT-8), these cost twice as much and are twice as heavy. However, I find these Tectonic Elements exciters run cooler and put out more intense vibration for a given power setting (say 2 watts RMS). I was disappointed by the Dayton Audios. It's the electric energy transduced to mechanical vibrations (not to heating wire) that's important!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every thing I have purchased from Parts Express woI make custom flat speaker panels. 3ft X 6ft. It takes 5 exciters per speaker.The sound is superb. I put them one for each corner one ft from corner and one in the middle.

Theoretically could I attach these to a passive radiator and make a subwoofer to improve the bass response?

I suppose if you could get it lined up and attached it would work, but it will not produce much cone movement. These have very limited excursion and will probably have a pretty high free air resonance for something like this, so all you can really do is experiment.

do you sell adhesive rubber ring fittings for the part that gets stuck onto a surface for these, and also for the other similar model Tectonic Elements TEAX32C20-8 32 mm exciters (which would require two rings, the inner and the outer)

You can get double sided tape rolls (like cellophane tape) on Amazon or at local office supply stores. Carefully scrape off the old adhesive from the exciter with a pocket knife. Don't worry about cutting a new adhesive ring. Just place a piece or two of tape on the desired surface, peel away the protective layer, then attach the exciter.I would avoid double sided FOAM tape, as it will dampen the sound vibrations to the surface you are trying to excite.

is sound range good enough to stand alone or even close?

I would like to use these in my modds and would like to know if the sound range is good enough for them to stand alone? By that i mean without adding a bass driver. I am not looking for anything amasing but at least as good as a netbook pc's sound.I added a link to show you the kind of mods i do and the amps i use.

I'd suggest you do a google search for "distributed mode loudspeaker". That will show you the theory of how these exciters work and should be able to give you some pointers on how to get the best performance out of yours. I'm sorry that I can't answer your specific question though. =(
