Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad Bad beast! This is one great beast! Did a ported enclosure that can reach down to 15hz... running on Behringer 6000DSP..too bad amp can only reach 20hz but is enough to shake the room! am already considering to build another duplicate of what i have now and connect to channel B of the amp...the only limitation... my regrets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome SubIt's definitely one of the best if not the best Subwoofer I've come across. Just be prepared to buy a substantial amp to drive this bad boy. I bought the behringer ep4000. It's a great amp for the money, but you can tell this sub can handle more then what the amp can put out. That being said as it sits right now I've had figurines vibrate off their pedestals. Lol. Anything not firmly supported will vibrate like crazy ex. light bulbs, figurines, windows, the grill on the fireplace. So keep in mind all these things vibrating will cut down on the quality of what your listing to. This sub works best in a theater where there's less things to vibrate.Note* right now I have it siting in my 1000sq' family room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LMS Ultra 5400 18" DVC SubwooferJust bought my third LMS Ultra 5400 18" DVC Subwoofer, I have been building speaker systems for about 35 years. This sub woofer astonishes me on the ultra low frequency bass output and the quality of sound. Best woofer I have ever used in a system. These speakers are power hungry but the results or worth it.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Subwoofer for SQ/ULF I have ever owned! The title says it all.I've owned, Mal-21's, SDX-15's, Dayton PA-18's and Velodyne's over the years. The LMS-18 wins in both thermal power handling, dynamic expression and ultimate Sound Quality, thanks to it's uber-beefy magnet. Additionally it's bass-response efficiency below 20hz in boxes that are under 8 cubic feet in size is second to none.I'm flat to 6hz in my room thanks to these subs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding subwooferin a market filled with "louder is better", this subwoofer demonstrates that finesse and quality exists, even in the high-power 18" market. I have been designing and instaling high-powered SQ systems for 20+ years, and I can honestly say these are the finest 18" drivers I have ever used. The clarity and extension of this subwoofer is incredible, possessing resolution and detail normally only found in much smaller subwoofers. The amazing part is this sub can provide astounding levels of sound quality while acoustically kicking you in the face! I have 3 of these in a 2006 HHR demo vehicle, pushing 7,500 Wrms, and the vehicle has won several sound quality competitions, beating out everything from 10"s to 15"s in clarity and resolution. components right now consist of Selenium 6W4P midbass (3 per channel) and Tang Band 1" extended range in the A-pillars (7 per channel). The quality of these subwoofers cannot be overstated. I have the subs mounted in 5.7 ft3 (net), with 77 in2 ports, 45" long, for a 25" tuning per sub. If you are looking for stellar performance in all respects, these subs will blow you away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best subwoofer I have ever tested. This is an expensive and heavy woofer. However, those are the only drawbacks regarding this beautifully engineered speaker. Looks, build quality and even the seperate packaging of magnet and cone reflects a rare attention to detail. The objective performance is unequaled in my experience. Total harmonic distortion between 20-100 Hz. is 0.4-0.7% at 110db! As output level increases, the distortion rises less than any other woofer ever tested. By comparison, the Exodus Maelstrom 18 measured no cleaner than 2.4% at only 90db and got MUCH worse as level was increased or frequency decreased. The TC Sounds sub maintains low distortion down to 8hz. Frequency response linearity is excellent even up to 1 Khz. Impulse response is exceptional, especially for an 18" sub. Objective excellence translates directly to superb subjective performance and realism. With box requirements as small as 2.6 cu.ft. sealed (f3=43 hz)and 4.3 ported (f3=24 hz) Thilo has hit a grand slam. Now, how about a sale...

TC Sounds LMS Ultra 5400 18" DVC Subwoofer

Why are they no longer available? Does the factory still make them? Another question: I bought a bunch of sub woofers you many years ago and they say duel 4 ohm on them. What does this mean? I only have them hooked up to one + and one -. Thanks Grant

Asked by: bad bearing
TC Sounds will only sell direct so you will have to buy from their website. A woofer that says "dual 4 ohm" means it has two separate voice coil connections, each of which are 4 ohms. These are usually wired together in parallel for a 2 ohm load, or series for an 8 ohm load. Using only one set will halve the power handling of the woofer and change its parameters, meaning it will require a different enclosure alignment for the best performance.

Can the LMS 5400 Ultra be mounted uppside down? Or will it create to much sag?

Asked by: Steve Jorgensson
This woofer will work fine for a down firing application.

What is the flush mounting depth for this woofer, including the depth of the mounting flange and any gasket required (after compression). I see the installation dimension shows 0.70 inches. Does this include an allowance for the gasket?

Asked by: Soundhog1
Yes this allows clearance for the gasket.

would a CERWIN-VEGA CV2800 amplifier work to drive this driver in a sealed enclosure?

Asked by: Patjansen
Yes that amp will work. I would recommend wiring the coils in series for a 4 ohm load and bridging the amplifier.

Can you please provide the ideal volume for these drivers in a construction like this: On beforehand thank you!

Asked by: Royce1981
A volume for a dual opposed cabinet would be in the 6-8 cubic foot area. This is not a very practical designed for these drivers however, you would be farther ahead putting them in their own separate enclosures for smoother room response.
