TC Sounds Axis 15Q1 15" Quad VC Subwoofer
TC Sounds Axis 15Q1 15" Quad VC Subwoofer is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best to dateThe best sub yet. I'm upgrading from a dayton hf 15. The dayton was very deep but not enough force, impact, x max, or spl.the axis is a sonic weapon! I have it teamed up with a 15 inch vmp and Dayton 500 watt plate amp. The vmp is a champ, tunning from about 26 down to 12 Hz! Just change the stack of weights. Axis handles thunder down to earthquake sounds. Don't let the 4 coils scare you. The owners manual gives 3 easy ohm examples. Specs seem underrated. 16 mm x max? Well technically the coil is very long and the magnetic gap may be left behind. Just listen to Mr. Stampler's video. "The axis is good for about 3 inches peak to peak excursion. It's a really serious driver. Lotta spl!"The bass is soo deep is makes you happy inside. I feel sorry for some who had bad glue-ups. If mine comes unglued, send me another top assembly. Because I haven't heard a better sub yet!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Zero quality control, or B stock?>I just received mine today, and boy was I excited to have the best sub out there! First I open the motor and notice a bunch of gouging and discoloration on the pole piece. Not happy. This product does not look new! Ok, so perhaps they recycle the pole pieces, it should be machined smooth to look new. Alright, moving forward, I open the basket assy and notice the finish of the cone face is all bumpy like there was sand on it. The cones are painted aluminum. Very disappointed they are to cheap to anodize a product supposed to be so good. I go to push the coil slightly with my thumbs, and the entire spider assembly pops free! You have got to be kidding me! This speaker is going back so fast, I am absolutely appalled that this product cant even keep up with the quality of a 200 dollar lanzar opti. Parts Express, you better have return shipping covered on this one! And your customers deservr the chance to read this review. Im still in shock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best woofer ever.If you are searching for absolute lows, with little to no distortion, and high power handling, then your search has ended. I use this sub in a sealed box in a 5.1 setup for my recording studio. Sfx hit hard, and mixing at sub frequencies (20-35hz) is MUCH quicker, as I can hear the actual tones, and not the sounds of the cone flapping. Translation to other systems and home theaters has been excellent. The price, worth every penny. Why spend $200 for a woofer that will not blow you away, when you can spend twice as much, for 10 times the return!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just give TC sounds a tryI have been building car stereos for 31Years. Mostly useing 12 s and 18 s. From Fosgate to MTX 9500 . In the last 6 years the name Dayton has been on every subwoofer I have installed. Mostly the RSS models, which I might add, perform on a scale equal to or above that of the JL Audios W7 s. A year ago my son talked me into purchasing an Axis 15w1. We installed it into a 2.6 cubic ft. box with the TC sounds 15 inch passive radiator attached on the same plane. Very simple unit! Wow. The test equipment was showing graphs that most audio tech only dream about. These tests were done from the cabin of a 2000 Audi A6. The box was in the trunk facing back. Driven with a RF 15 bd. into 1.38 Ohms. You folks at TC sounds, "Very Nice". You Bass Heads out there, "Wake up". This sub will Jar very auto alarm in town, and sing to your bass loving heart. All at the same time. Promise!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Subwooferthis subwoofer is amazing, i have one of these and it hits. Right now i have it in a sealed box which ported would be better but the sound quallity is awesome. Also a funny thing about it, when it came to my house someone put my name on the side of the box and said i rock lol. Anyway, If you want low bass this is the sub for you. You cant go wrong with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mobilamazing!!I ve been a JL Audio loyalist for years. My first taste came in the form of the first edition 10W6 & 12W3 (sealed)which back then, past the all important hit-so-hard-everything-turned-blurry test! Then I moved on to the 10W6v2 (ported), one of the best sounding 10 drivers period! So if I had such great success with JL, why am I writing this?? There is one inherent downfall to these subs their foam surrounds simply DO NOT last in the tropical heat, and are too expensive to recone. I have had the privilege of auditioning a single 13W7 before I bit the $700+, but there again they have that foam surround, and at that price tag I want a driver that will last!! While sampling the 13W7, I searched around for anything WITHOUT a foam surround! And after doing lots of forum reading and Bass Box Pro modeling, I purchased the Axis 15Q1, and for $449 the choice was clear! I was simply blown away by the beauty, craftsmanship, and sheer mass of this driver! And let me say, Yes that magnet is really that heavy! which lead me to use blue threadlock on the attachment bolts as a safety precaution. My only real minor complaint is that the holes on the push terminals don t accept two 12 AWG cables, as some terminals are required to hold two cables when wired into 1ohm. Now the obvious question How will it compare to the sweet sound of the 13W7 ?? So I built a 3.2 ft3 enclosure with a VMP 15 coming along for the ride! This thing is simply amazing, and yes it does punch harder than the 13W7 on the same wattage! The 13W7 was a bit more articulate, but as I am still experimenting with the VMP, I am sure with more tuning I can get it to sound just as good! And by the way mine is on a comfortable 2000w and loving it!!As this is the first review for this item, I want to encourage other Axis owners to post their experiences!! Reading reviews helped me to find this gem, so I felt compelled to share! Keep em coming!!

TC Sounds Axis 15Q1 15" Quad VC Subwoofer

Can I put 2 of these in a dual opposing configuration wired into a 4 ohm load with a behringer ep4000? That's 4000 watts bridged at 4 ohms. The power would be split between the two woofers, 2000 to each?

Asked by: grassguy
These are quad 1 ohm coil subs meaning they can only be wired to a 4 ohm load each so two cannot be wired back to 4 ohms. You would be much farther ahead putting each sub in its own enclosure for better room placement options. The EP4000 will power a pair of these in stereo mode, although one amp on each sub bridged would be recommended.

Could you tell me what the dimensions of a ported box would be tuned to 18hz with round ports using the 1000 watt Dayton plate amp?

Asked by: MattF
Unfortunately this and all other TC sounds subwoofers are not suited for ported enclosures. With the Dayton 1000 watt amp you would be farther ahead using the 15" Ultimax, Titanic or RSS390HO/HF drivers. These will work much better in larger, low tuned ported designs.

Hello, Does anyone know if the Axis can be wired for a dual 2 ohm configuration? Also, since its rated at 4.8 ohms with all four VC's wired a certain way. Does that cause any problems with a amp setup in a 4 ohm mode? Jerid

Asked by: blackhawk95
Unfortunately this cannot be run 2 ohms on one amp. A 4.8 ohm load will not affect a 4 ohm stable amp, it will just slightly decrease the power output though not enough to matter.

If I have to go with a plate amp, what would be the best match for this?

Asked by: SubW
This woofer requires a lot of power to get the most from it. The highest powered plate amp we offer is the Dayton SPA1000.

The Xmax seems extremely low for a driver at this level, in fact I noticed the LMS even has a greater spec. How is it that this drivers Xmax is only on par with per sat the W3 series from JL?

Asked by: Sbig1
The Xmax level that we publish for all subwoofer models is geometric (voice coil - gap) / 2. However, when looking at 70% BL this rises to a substantial 26.5mm linear (on-way) as shown in the manual for the driver. This is a more realistic number and is what you can expect in terms of linear stroke. Mechanical clearance is beyond 40mm in each direction which means this driver has capabilities of over 3" of excursion.
