Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so greatI'm a little puzzled by the positive reception this driver has received. To me, it sounded irritatingly bright and edgy with no real bass. Full-range drivers are hard to pull off, but there are many superior alternatives out there at substantially less cost. As usual, the measurements pretty much tell the story. I've attached an on-axis plot and one taken 30 degrees off axis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting dispersion patternI built a test box using a pair of W4-1757SB (another driver on the back, wired in parallel) the on-axis response is same as datasheet with a 10dB peak around 10~12KHz, but the 90-degree off axis, i.e. the side response, is amazingly flat up to ~17Khz w/o any peaking.The shape of W4-1757SB radiation surface seems to have made a drastic difference is dispersion pattern. This could be interesting for people who're looking for ways to build omini directional or point source speakersp.s. the speaker seems best crossed above 300~500Hz. When I fed them full range, they sounded awful (even though the PR look decent). The sound quality improved drastically when the low frequency is off loaded to a woofer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Full Range DriverI am running a pair of the IB in my 2006 Mustang GT located in the front door stock 6x8 locations. They are off-axis from the listener and crossed over from 315 Hz on up with a 24 db/octave slope.I spent approximately 2 years swapping out drivers in my active setup and I am happy that I found these. They really fit the bill and complement my 6.5" woofers quite well. The only negative aspect that I would report about these drivers is that they tend to reproduce harsh music a little harsher than I would expect them to. Not MMD dome harsh, but a little harsher than I would like. I can live with their harshness to utilize my stock locations and their great off-axis sound!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great aluminum cone mid/full rangeI tested these in-car on the dash mounted into test enclosures of 1.25liters and aimed on axis. Crossed at 315hz -18db they played up to 20k without problems. These are extremely detailed and a smoother than many metal cone drivers I've heard, although they do still exhibit some of that "metal cone sound". For my preference, they could be smoothed on the top end slightly with eq, or crossed at 16khz -6db and really sound terrific. In listening to some recordings, I noticed small nuances that hadnt been picked up before. Very nice. These can be crossed lower as well with the additional xmax and decent power handling. Good sensitivity as well. The off axis dispersion was quite good.
