Product Details

Tang Band W4-1320SIF 4" Bamboo Full Range Speaker

Tang Band's W4-1320SIF 4" speaker features a bamboo fiber paper cone with half-roll rubber surround. This optimally damped cone material is rigid, lightweight, and durable. The driver's 18 oz. ceramic ferrite magnet and underhung 1" voice coil do their part to ensure very low 2nd and 3rd order distortion. A machined aluminum phase plug improves high frequency performance, and a strong cast aluminum chassis maintains proper component alignment. Also available in a truncated frame version, the W4-1320SJF.

Tang Band W4-1320SIF 4" Bamboo Full Range Speaker
Tang Band W4-1320SIF 4" Bamboo Full Range Speaker is rated 3.6667 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Here's My Take On This DriverBass is better than expected, with the highs not quite as extended as expected although adequate for all but the most critical listener. Watch this hifi video and you will see and hear one good possibility with this driver.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not full-range by any stretchExcellent mid range, relatively low harm. dist., but not usable without a tweeter unless you're 60+. Comparing this driver to pp cones in the same price range makes me think paper has had it's day. For me is only usable for the vocal range and a little lower in a three way. Will excel in this application. Should not be listed as full range. Bass also not free of anomalies. Cross at 500 and 5k in a high power design for optimal results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be a 5 star!I burned in this driver for 5 hours in a vented cabinet of 11 Liter calculated with port using BassBox pro.6. I used given spec´s from Tangband for this. After this I measured the driver using Dayton WT3.Results from WT3 far away from org. spec´s, and not close to be matched ! No offend,TB, this is common! This driver perform very well! Very good 3D presentation! Warm and naturual voices! Very deep bass for the size, lacking some detail there but what the ...Tune these ones to match hights balanced with bass db and you have a high-end speaker kicking butts of very expensive massproduced small speakers on stands! Why is it impossible to get an ISO-standard for manufactors measure given spec´s? That would help us DIY'ers a lot before spending money! This is a very good sounding driver, no doubt! I would recommend all DIY'ers to try these if the can measure them, that is!

RE: HF Sound Quality

Thanks everyone. I definitely meant 200hz... NOT 20. Great to hear. Will be ordering a pair today and I'll give them a review after I've finished the project.
Asked by: Evman
Thanks, Evman. We'll look forward to your review.

HF sound quality?

Can anyone comment on what the high end is like on these guys? They'll be used as a mid/tweeter in a mid-hi fi setup. They will be mounted open baffle in conjunction with a woofer (crossed at around 20hz). I'm worried they might sound "tinny". I'm looking for some detail up top as well. Would I be better off with a different driver? Thanks!
Asked by: Evman
are you sure you don't mean 200hz? Not much of anything goes below 20hz.But yeah, the specs are under-stating the driver's top end. I would suspect that these little beasties could go all the way up to 25khz and even beyond. That said, there's an active debate as to whether you actually need anything above 16khz.
