Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Frequency ResponseI bought this driver a few weeks ago for a portable bluetooth music player. I installed it into and small sealed polycarbonate case with bridged TPA3110 (16 watts). The sound quality is remarkable for a 3" driver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat it for the priceExcellent speaker for the price. I would comment more on the sound quality, but considering what I put the speakers in, you can't expect hi-quality sound from a plastic toy. That being said, the speakers do sound great, and are well worth the money. Thanks Parts Express!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiny Bookshelf SpeakersI purchased a pair of these along with the .04 ft^3 mdf knock down cabinet and a pair of 3.5" Peerless radiators just to see how these would do in a small application. Let me just say they exceeded expectations. Very very full sound from a single speaker and can get surprisingly low. Also can handle way more power than i was expecting. Very highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice little driverI ordered these to upgrade a pair of W3-881SJ speakers for a computer speaker project...for some reason, I had missed these or they were not available when I was selecting the drivers. These require less cabinet space, have a MUCH smother response curve, and are more efficient than their lookalike cousins. Very pleasant when paired with a DTA-2 kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from put them down, picked them back upi picked up a pair of these back in november and put them into a solid wood cabinets that i had designed. i hated the sound. i blamed it on both the driver and the wood.i popped them out of the cabinets and put them into the exact same cab design but made from 3/4 mdf and they sound better than the Tang Band W3-315E's that were in there already.this weekend i put them back into the wooden cabinets...and can't figure out what i hated so much. maybe they needed a longer break-in period than i had the attention for.they have a rich sound that has a smoother high-end than the W3-315E's (which i do like and would also recommend). anyway, i bought 4 more for a couple of europly sets that i'm putting together and will get some more this week.

What would be a good crossover point. (hi,low, bandpass)they will be wired Parallel for a 4 ohm load. Also box and port length for 3 drivers in a ported box. I have 4 ch. amp. 3 ch.s will be driving 6 of them.

Just curious to whether a tweeter is needed with these.  I know in most cases it is preferable but can i get away with not using one.  These will be to replace some old AL computer speakers so not looking for absolute perfection in terms of quality.

Asked by: Xilia
Nine times out of ten a tweeter will not be necessary with a driver like this. These extend well into the top octave and are very popular when used my themselves.

What is the recommended enclosure dimensions for a sealed box? What tuning frequency can I expect from it?

I am looking to build small cube speakers from these drivers. Each cube will consist of only single driver and nothing else. I want to build 5 of these single driver speakers for my 5.1 home theater. Do I need to add additional tweeter to get adequate highs? What crossover frequency should I set my sub-woofer to?Thanks.
Asked by: Chin
Recommended volume is 0.04 which would be internal dimensions of 4.5" x 4.5" x 3.5". This volume provides an F3 of 200 Hz and expected in room response of around 100 Hz. Adding a tweeter will be up to you. These should supply enough high end for most people but there are some people (me included) that prefer a tweeter for the top octave.

Will four TB W3-881SJF vertically aligned handle more power in a sealed enclosure with an added sub woofer

or a tuned t-line enclosure
Asked by: Looty
Four of these will handle four times the power as one. Either enclosure will allow the same power handling, these will not be suitable for anything below about 150 Hz. They would have to be wired in series/parallel in order to stay at 8 ohms.

would these work as a decent small cube suround speaker? enclosure sealed or ported and port size

Asked by: pat h
Yes although a vented box is recommended. With internal dimensions of 4.5" x 4.5" x 5" and a port that is 1" diameter and 3 long you can expect a tuning frequency of 99 hz.
