Tang Band W3-881SJF 3" Full Range Speaker
Do I need to use a tweeter with these?
This is up to personal preference. These full range drivers offer a pretty extended response, and often do not require a tweeter, but some people (myself included) still like the additional upper end a tweeter can offer, as well as better off axis response.

Is it sold EA or Pair?

What is the off axis response? On axis looks good, but off axis response would be helpfull information.
We only have on axis plots available for this driver. You may ask around on our forum to see if anyone has third party measurements for this.

Santoprene is a type of rubber compound that is more resilient to the elements and will last longer than other types of rubber surrounds, such as Butyl rubber or foam.

I an building a boombox. I picked these for the smooth mids through highs. I was thinking of a single ported 5-inch woofer for the lows and to increase the overall power handling. Can I use a 1st-order crossover? What frequency?

If I use the Parts Express Knock-Down MDF 0.04 cu. ft. Micro Bookshelf Speaker boxes, what would be the correct port size? Thanks.
I would recommend a 1/2" diameter port that is 1" long for that volume.
