Tang Band W3-1364SA 3" Bamboo Cone Driver
Tang Band W3-1364SA 3" Bamboo Cone Driver is rated 4.4211 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very smooth and naturalI put these in a .06cu/ft sealed box, and they had a very nice, natural, and smooth sounding response. They sounded more natural and open than the RS100, but the bottom end was not as defined. The off axis response was very nice on the top end as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These things are sweet.I have 4 of these in a simple stereo setup with 2 for the right and 2 for the left grouped very tightly together in their 8.5"x4.5"x3" enclosures so they couple well. The bass is provided by 2 10" Dayton Classic woofers in ported enclosures. I crossed over at 200hz at 24db per octave with an active crossover fed to a couple older receivers used as amplifiers for high and low frequencies. After previous experience with 3" drivers I wanted them well protected from the lows. They sound fantastic. Some of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. Nice and smooth sound with great detail. For A while I have to admit I thought there was something wrong because I was hearing things i never heard before but sure enough they are really there. It makes listening to music much more enjoyable and interesting after you get used to it. For them to sound their best I boost the upper and lower end of their range slightly. I haven't pushed them too hard but they get plenty loud without any discernable distortion. As can be expected the sweet spot for the highest frequencies is relatively narrow but it would almost be a shame to give up the sweet sounding highs by adding a separate tweeter to achieve great dispersion at the higher frequencies.Highly recommended if you are tired of the harsh sound of many "modern" drivers. There is nothing like a paper cone (especially bamboo paper apparently) for smooth and non-fatiguing listening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect car audio midrange bp @ 300-6500hzthese are sitting on my dash, on axis, each in their own enclosure. They are part of a 4 way active system doing voice duties. you cannot go wrong. guys sound like guys and girls sound like girls. it was very hard to find a speaker that did both genders perfectlylike everyone else, I found the sound over 8khz not to my liking. add a tweeter and enjoy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice detailed sounding suitable for desktop usageBut this little gem seems to shout a little on the high range. Does anyone hear the same thing I heard? Mine is put in a 3.7 liter vented box, and it appears to be singing great knowing there is limit to the bass. As I am breaking it in, I see a lot of promise for it to be use as a full range in a desktop setting. Built quality is excellent and it looks attractive. Does anyone have a suggestion as what value of components to be use to tame this peak? Thanks much in advance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KILLER 3" FULLRANGEi was looking for a small driver for a-pillar pod duties in a 2005 YUKON... this driver was perfect... very smooth response and extended so no tweet was needed in my application...also very reasonable and stylish

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the moneyThis driver is a competent full range driver and should fill most rolls (within reason)quite admirably. However it does not have the ability to resolve high frequency detail in the way some, somewhat more expensive, drivers can (FF85K for example).

Tang Band W3-1364SA 3" Bamboo Cone Driver

I am strongly considering these drivers but don't know if they will be loud enough. Does anyone who owns these have a suggestion on the power to use? Are the power handling numbers listed to be used with or without a crossover?

Asked by: Aaron_Texas25
Tang Band power numbers are considering a full range input. These are capable of quite a bit of output if high passed.

How many speakers come in the box?

If I add one to my cart is it a total two speakers or is it individual speakers? I want to make sure I order the right quantity.
Asked by: shizzle24
This driver is sold as "each", one item in cart means one individual driver. For a stereo pair you would put two in your cart.Enjoy your project!

The BR enclosure would be for full range speaker use aided by a sub-woofer. Desk top setup.

Asked by: Mickey
I use a 3 in with small tweeter 12 db 5k crossover for the pc with a active sub, nice set up, my sub is not close but the low end never suffers and the screen lip sync is perfect, good idea

Seems like the oldest question in the book. What's the smallest BR enclosure to use and still get good performance ?

Asked by: Mickey
Without a clear operational definition of what constitutes "good performance" any answer given wouldn't be very helpful, but you could do a little experimentation and determine what sounds good to your ears: Selecting the enclosure size is always a 3-way trade off between enclosure size, power handling and frequency response, so here is my suggestion; I suggest startiing with a box with a known volume, such as 2 liters #about 124 cubic inches#, and then listening to the results. You could keep reducing volume by adding solid filler, such as 2x2x2 chips, until the sound is audibly degraded to your ears, then you will have your answer. Make sure you use fiberous stuffing #polyester, wool, or fiberglass# in your box too.
