Rated 2 out of 5 by from Agreed...not for headbangers.I put these in a Nissan Frontier dash to augment the door speakers and raise the sound stage higher in the cab. Sound was good without beaming like some tweeters I tried. Did fine for a few months but blew out at high volume readily apparent by an annoying buzz in the upper mid-range. Would not recommend for rock or high volume.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not one of Tang Bang better ideals.Dislike the dust cover cap. It sticks out be on the speaker it self. Far enough that it hit the grill cloth. Why the need for this cone shape dust cover is a good question.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for Hair Metal...ok, I build some speaker pods for the doors of my truck... its an '04 tundra, so if you are familiar with the factory JBL systems they have a tweeter up high, upper mid range, then a 6 1/2" woofer in the door... i rebuilt the pods because I could not find anything to replace the upper midrange which was like 1.78" in dia.... so... added these.. and after about 4 months... they blew... one went, then the other.. the did not like the higher mid frequencies... i distinctly remember the first one went out listening to highway to he!!.... not sure what that means. So I have now upgraded to some upper mid-range horns and will have to modify my pods again to accept these, but these are pro audio and shouldn't be as prone to blowing at "very" high levels like these did.... would be nice for computer speaker projects I would assume.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sounds bad. Plot is a joke.Got this driver to use as a mid/high in a project. Tested against 4 other drivers and was very disappointing. real RTA measurement (EARTHWORKS M23> M-audio pre> Sia soft Smaart meter tested in damp'ed lab environment) showed that this driver is not even close to the plot given. has a large bump at around 2.2 k about 1200 hz wide followed by a large null at 8.4 and then a rise again at 13k. its a really well built driver but if your looking for a very flat response in the mid and upper octave as I was look elsewhere. (W3-1053SC) did very well from 1-17k still testing more drivers but these are going back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mid/tweeterThis is an amazing lil speaker. The specs do not lie.In the range from 400hz-20K Hz this driver is a great value.Nice crisp highs, very tweeter like. While at the same time giving you great mids.I have 4 of them in an automobile set up.50W rms per channel. They can handle a decent amount of power.(crossed over of course)I love this product,i could not be happier with it.Well if it gave me lows too,Ha lows from a 2 inch driver, that'd be nice.

Tang Band W2-803SM 2" Extended Range Speaker Driver

What would be the port size for getting that 168 Hz in a 0.01 cu. ft. enclosure shown in the specs?

Asked by: zdog
Recommended port size in that volume would be 1/2" diameter and 1-1/4" long for an F3 of 168 Hz.

Would like to use this as a front mid-tweeter to supplement rear speakers in my MGB roadster.  Is there a grille that is compatible with this speaker for a surface recessed application?

Asked by: 73mgb
Unfortunately we do not have any grills available for this speaker.
