Tang Band W1-1070SE 1" Full Range Driver
Tang Band W1-1070SE 1" Full Range Driver is rated 2.6667 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accurate & Surprisingly LoudUsed two of these drivers for a bluetooth, mini vintage suitcase, boombox (my company is called Hi-Fi Luggage check us out). I used a PAM8610 2x10 amp board powered with a 7.4 lithium-ion 600mah battery pack (will run for 8+ hours at 50-60% volume). Not an audiophile per say, but I know quality output when I hear it. These drivers are a tad bright, but expected. They can get loud and in a sealed application, and will provide a semi full-range of sound (maybe drops to 100-120hz). You can actually hear bass, and to an uneducated ear, will sound better than all those compact, bluetooth (over-priced) boomboxes. With this application, they fill a large room with clean sound. They're really fun and I would imagine in the right application with an experienced builder, quality amp, etc will do wonders. I would give them 5 stars, but they scratch REALLY easily. I know, I know, why dock points based on user error, however, if you had these on your desktop and a pen brushed the surface you would see a scuff. I'm VERY careful and meticulous when building boomboxes and a darn fingernail can scratch the cone, surprising for titanium. Use caution with tools, as well, because the magnet is surprisingly strong from the front (even though it's "shielded") and will attach to a tool inches away, and pull the tool right through the front of the speaker. It's happened to me with a previous build using these exact drivers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great wide-range driverI needed a small driver to build vertical arrays for a demo vehicle. I have been impressed with Tang Band drivers in the past, so I decided to give these a try. First off, this is a ONE INCH driver, so expecting anything useful below the rated frequency response would have been wishful thinking. My application required 500 Hz+, and that fell nicely within the rated FR. I built vertical arrays for my A-pillars with 7 of these drivers in each. I am running 120Wrms to each A-pillar, and I am very happy with the performance of these drivers. My system consists of three LMS-5400 18"s with 7,500Wrms, tuned to 25 Hz, three 6W4P Selenium midbass drivers with 270Wrms per door (total of 6), and 14 of these Tang Band drivers with a total of 240Wrms going to them. I tried these to see if I could have a low profile A-pillar arrangement that would hold up to the rest of the stereo. These have done magnificently. At low power, they are super clean and smooth, and I am not a fan of metal dome drivers for high frequency (more on that later). They keep up with the mids and subs (subs turned down for SQ) very well, and I have received many compliments on the clarity of these drivers. At higher volumes, these get a little bright, but not horribly so. They sound great with heavy metal and hard rock. Even with the subwoofers turned up, the Tang Bands do way better than I expected. I have balanced sound inside and outside of the car, even when pushing extremely high volume levels. When I unleash the LMS-5400s into the 150+ dB range, I still have clean full-spectrum sound coming from the car! I could not be happier with these speakers, especially considering I bought them on a whim.I am using equalizers for my front stage (I am running 2.1 sound), and they are keeping things smooth, but that doesn’t take away from the performance of these drivers. They handle plenty of power, and in the arrays they fill the car with very detailed highs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine for limited applicationsOpen air operation, this speaker falls flat on its face. But when mounted with a tight seal, it comes alive. I would not consider using it for music, no low end performance. It just not seem to be a full range speaker. But it really does well with voice applications. If voice only is what you need, it is a nice compact package.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Distortion at modest powerI built several different amps, each with different power supplies (batt or wall wart), trying to identify the distortion source at _very_ modest volumes - less than a laptop. Then tested my amps with old aluminum 8 ohm mini-Realistics, which sounded perfectly clean. The speaker just can't handle any power (>~0.5-1W) without going into fuzz mode, using classical or pop music sources. Despite the apparent heft of the magnet, the notion of "full range" is greatly exaggerated. My goal was not ear-splitting volume or even decent frequency response - I just wanted audible and clean. I found a commercial system of about the same size (iHome) that sounds great - not much more expensive and includes amp and batteries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Tweeter!!I like it and I don't. I bought 36 of these to throw around the backyard hidden. The high on these things are great and the lows make it sound like a cheap $10 radio, but wasn't concerned about the low's being it is only 1". But if you wanted to use it as a background like I am for natural sounds like birds and so on it is great, very realistic, hit's those highs nicely just like the real thing. Overall happy with the little guy's.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite..After reading the seemingly amazing specs on this speaker, i decided i had to hear it to believe it; so i purchased a pair of these. A few test runs later, i was somewhat disappointed. Dont expect this speaker be much more then a tweeter. I exposed this speaker to 30w rms with no crossover. This produced a small amount of high end distortion. Obviously, the low end was quite muddy and horrid. The sound output from these guys will not blow you out of your seat either; again, all of these can be expected of a 1" driver for $10.

Tang Band W1-1070SE 1" Full Range Driver

I am replacing the speakers in my plasma tv and need something in the 40mm x 40mm  2 watt range. Don't know the Ohms but these Tang Band's look very similar to OEM. Please advise.

Asked by: Winston
Without knowing the impedance it is difficult to say which would be the best option, although this Tang Band driver will be one of the closest fitting options we have available.

How good are these as a tweeters.

Id be crossing them at between 8000-10000
Asked by: William 67
"Good" is a matter of opinion, so unfortunately, no one will be able to tell you how "good" any speaker will sound to you specifically. The frequency range is certainly sufficient to be used as you describe, and at the price, the product would represent a good value for your project.
