Product Details

Sure Electronics AA-AK32111 Two Class AB Headphone Amplifiers 2x1W Kit

This cool and unique amplifier package features two low distortion Class AB amplifier kits that are built around the versatile ST Microelectronics TDA2822M. Each of the two amplifier kits can be configured for either stereo power output or bridged-mono power output (schematics for proper board configuration can be found in the Users Manual). Great for electronics classes, trade schools, or as a project for hobbyists. Makes a really unique gift that almost anyone that uses headphones or computer speakers can use with some additional parts.

Each amplifier can be used to power computer desktop speakers, car and home audio tweeters, motorcycle and bicycle speakers, headphones... and can even be used as a fixed-gain, line-level preamplifier. The multi-layer printed circuit board features a through-hole design that hides the circuit traces from accidental shorting. ST Microelectronics' TDA2822M is built to accept a wide array of power inputs (as low as 2 VDC) and can operate on as little as two AA batteries up to a 9V battery for the ultimate portable amplification solution.

Note: Power input jack, speaker output terminals, and headphone output jack is not included. Please see the Related Items section for recommendations.

Sure Electronics AA-AK32111 Two Class AB Headphone Amplifiers 2x1W Kit
Sure Electronics AA-AK32111 Two Class AB Headphone Amplifiers 2x1W Kit is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small audio ampas a small amp it provides a good solution to pump up MP3 player output, has rich output , half watt per channel won't fill large room but ok for close listening. Parts for two amps although only 3 10uf caps were provider also 4.7 kohm resisters were short by 2 but fortunately I had some in parts bin. I will likely go for a larger output amp ultimately prob tda7269 based and build it myself for a larger sound....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Amps but Beware Bridged SchematicThis is a fun little kit and makes a nice $5 amp, but beware of the schematic drawing if you plan to built the bridged mono version! The board is built with R1 grounding the input of channel 1 and R2 grounding the input of channel 1. The drawing shows the reverse of this, which is of no consequence when building the stereo version, but which could fry your source if you are building the bridged version. Also note that the bridged speaker output is from the positive poles of ch1 and ch2. The drawing would appear to state just the opposite. When in doubt just flip the board over and follow the traces!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two Class AB Headphone Amplifiers 2x1W KitOK... I bought this kit just to get my purchase up high enough for free shipping. So, when my package arrived (parts for a 300W stereo amplifier project), I realized that I needed SOMETHING to use as an amp for my PC while I was working on my amplifier project. Bingo! I used one of these boards! The kit comes with 2 PC boards (identical boards - you make two separate amps), all the parts and a very handy little flip-top parts box. I use the parts box all the time now to hold screws and such while working on a project.Anyway, the little amplifier board is easy to assemble - you just stick the parts in and solder it. I ran my little temporary amplifier on a 12 volt wall wart and used it to drive my 10 inch bookshelf speakers. Amazingly, it sounds really good, and I am sure the output power must be a bit more than 1 watt per channel because the board actually plays at a comfortable level without any distortion. Also, the little chip (the amplifier itself) is amazing. It's a plain old Class AB amplifier (actually a dual power op-amp) and it barely gets warm when playing at it's full volume. So, in conclusion, this board is a fun kit to assemble, you get two of them to put together, you get a really useful little parts box with it and it performs amazingly well for it's size and specs. If you need a headphone amplifier or a low power amp for your PC speakers, this kit will do the trick!

is there volume control

is there volume control or maybe an add on component that will allow that
Asked by: yo yo
Sorry, no volume control is included with the boards. You can add a volume control easily by using a 10K audio taper potentiometer (Part# 023-646). Note that this kit allows you to build two amplifiers, so you would need one potentiometer for each board. Hope this helps.

do i need the vdc power kit to use the adapter

Asked by: yo yo
The Amplifier Kit requires a power supply (not included). A good power supply to use would be the 12 VDC 1200mA AC Adapter (Part# 129-083). For portable use, a battery pack made from one 8 AA Cell Battery Holder (Part# 140-978), a Snap-type Battery Clip (Part# 090-805) and 8 AA Alkaline Cells (Batteries) would work. Since you get two amplifier boards in this kit, you will need two power supplies or two battery packs if you wish to run them both. Lastly, remember that the amplifier kit is a KIT - you have to assemble them (solder) before use. Hope this helps.

Do you have the schematics and building plans for this product?

Asked by: AmyF
The schematics for the board are in the "Users Manual" link. Note that the manual shows THREE different diagrams: (1) ALL the parts on the board (use this for REFERENCE only, do not build it this way!), (2) Board wired as a 2 channel stereo amplifier and (3) Board wired as a single channel bridged (BTL) amplifier. As far as building plans, simply choose which amplifier you want to build (stereo or BTL) and insert the components into the board as shown in the diagram and solder. Note that depending on which configuration you choose to build (stereo or BTL), there will be certain unpopulated spots on the board and you will end up with a few left over components. This is normal, because all the components to build BOTH configurations are included in the kit.
