Each channel of this Class D dual channel amplifier board is rated at 8 watts, delivered with state-of-the-art sound quality. The TPA3110's efficiency eliminates the need for an external heat sink when playing music under average listening conditions. Integration of high-quality SMD and MKP plug-in capacitors ensures hi-fi amplification output. Requires a DC power supply ranging from 10 to 16V (available separately) and performs admirably with 4 ohm and 8 ohm speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High power, low distortionWhile the spec sheet from SURE describes the output as 2 x 8W, this board is based on a Texas Instruments TPA3110D2 amplifier chip, which is rated at 2 x 15W @ 8Ω. That's probably why it's so much louder than expected, surpassing the PAM8610-based boards significantly.Even better, at full throttle the distortion is minimal, which is not always the case for medium-power amplifiers such as Tripath TA2024- and TA2020-based amps. The protection circuitry works quite well, and the board stays cool under all conditions.This is by far my favorite $10 amplifier board. It works fantastically for portable speakers, computer speakers, or to power small bookshelf speakers. Get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charmI bought these to mate with some small desktop full range 3 inch Fountek speakers that were on sale here. I built some small cubes for the Fountek's and then attached this little board to the underside of one of the cubes. Connected the amp to a 12v 5 amp power supply and then connected my tablet with a 3.5mm plug and the speakers. It sounds great. This small board works great as a near field device. I would not recommend this is you want to fill a large room with sound, but for sitting at a desk and listening to voice or background music this works like a charm.This is a good value and the sound is very clear. I ordered two more for future projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent amp!I bought this amp a couple weeks ago just to experiment with. The amp has decent volume from most sources. What I like most about the amp is the clarity and excellent stereo image. The only thing is the amp could have more input sensitivity and volume, and better bass response. But good clean amp will work great with most projects, Just make sure input has decent voltage level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You have to hear it to believe it!I've built a half dozen or so portable powered speaker systems using a few of the various 2x15 watt board amps available from various sources. Having to always pad the input signal to not overpower the drivers, I thought I'd try this 2x8 watt board. I figured I'd be trading away some sound quality but, lo and behold, I find this may actually be a step up -- and still requires a pot on the input for the smaller systems. In fact, I am going to try the Sure 2x2 watt amp, next, for these.To fully test the capability of this amp's 2x8 watts, I am currently listening to it through a pair of Optimus PRO LX-8s I am in the middle of reengineering. This amp delivers the goods, even with crossovers less efficient than the originals for these love/hate speakers. Here's what is so surprising -- I am comparing this amp to my "bench" amp used in this setting, a Stewart Audio World 1.2, which produces a nicely clean 2x300 watts at 4 ohms. This is what I am hearing: the Stewart with input controls at half matches this Sure at full; this Sure presents slightly better detail and stereo separation from about 2k on up; the Stewart is better at controlling bass, but the bass from this Sure still sounds rather good. In short, I am nearly giggling because of what this little board can do as I blast iTunes Radio's Latin Jazz station through it.Other things I very much appreciate include easy hookup via onboard jacks for power, audio input, and speaker output; input voltage requirements that accommodate eight NiMH AAs; and, best of all, holes for mounting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Tripath SoundJust hooked this up to my home stereo. I have a number of Tripath based amps that use the TA2020, TA2021 and TA2024 chips. I've also got an amp that uses the newer TPA3116. To my ear this sounds as good as any of them. Since it (obviously) lacks a volume control, I hooked it up to an Bravo Audio Ocean Preamp and it is a match nearly made in heaven. Even though this is only an 8 watt amp, the Bravo Audio Ocean has so much gain that you'll be shocked how loud you can drive your speakers. My only complaint is that I can only use about the first 1/10th of the travel in the Bravo's volume knob before it gets too loud with my 92db Axiom M3 speakers.

How do I reduce speaker crackle, while keeping this amplifier on the same 12V power supply as my motherboard? Can I use a capacitor?

Can two of these be run in parallel?

You can connect them in parallel to the power supply or even split an input, I would not recommend using two on a single speaker though.

How would you compare this to the Lepai LP-2020a+? I'm looking to experiment with different amplifier boards, and curious if this one is better than the Lepai. I understand the answer may cannibalizing sales, so I'm willing to take this offline. Thanks!

Hello, is it a problem to use only one output? (I want to have mono, I understand it is not bridgeable, so I imagine to have mono input, and use only one output, I do not need the full power....)? Thanks for the answer.

When I have this plugged into my phone playing music its great until I turn the volume up all the way and then on loud parts of the song it just makes terrible noise. Is this because of the power limit on this chip? Could someone explain??

Could this amp be used as a headphone amp if I used a preamp with a volume control?

I don't see why not, although this will have about 10 times the power output of a standard headphone amplifier. You will need to be VERY careful with volume levels.
