Super Bright White 5mm LED 17000 mcd 100 Piece Kit with Voltage Dropping Resistors
Super Bright White 5mm LED 17000 mcd 100 Piece Kit with Voltage Dropping Resistors is rated 4.6429 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great valueBought these to repair a bed-side lamp that used an array of 20 LEDs. These were inexpensive and came with current limiting resistors.Specific comments:- some of these LEDs got reversed. The packaging and wire lead lengths indicated one polarity, but in reality it was the reverse polarity. I was testing them as I put them in the array, so I figured it out, but it's something to watch for.- These have a relatively high forward voltage drop (3.0 - 3.2 V) which limited my ability to build a 4x5 array with a 12V supply; I ended up building a 6x3 array instead. I guess that's a common forward voltage drop for white LEDs, but it would have been lovely if they were in the 2 to 2.5 V range instead. My project was a success, and I'd give the parts a thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme brigtnessI bought these for use in a medical diagnostic device where we needed to simulate office lighting, outside on a cloudy day and outside in bright sunlight. Obviously, we needed to use a few of these and change the drive current for our brightness levels, but they came through in the end. A great price and fast shipping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from led that is bright and works wellfully functional with hearty leads that solder well and the led is bright

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bright little LEDsI'm using my bright white LEDs to update my emergency lighting for the stairwell in my house. I run them on my Ham radio station batteries (12V@ 600Ah) so that they are always on without any extra attention. When the tornado sirens sound in the middle of the night with the power already off, we can see to get down the stairs to our safe room in the basement. I used to use conventional lights, but got tired of their short life and higher current draw. I use 8 LEDs in each fixture wired as 4 in series and two groups in parallel. Even with the 10 foot ceiling, we can easily see the steps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome LED lightsSeriously sweet kit. Comes with everything as advertised. 470 ohm resistors are for 12 Vdc circuit and 100 ohm are used for 5 Vdc circuit. I used 470 ohm resistor and 3 led bulbs to make one circuit then wired 5 of these together to make lights for one door under cabinets. Heat shrink tubing keeps everything together nice and neat. Wife complained that she couldn't see even with all lights on so I designed and built this to make her happy. When she is happy....... everyone's happy! YAY!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from work great!I bought these to replace burnt out led Xmas lights. They are too large for that application but I did try some other applications that worked well. I will be ordering the 3m leds to see if they will fit the Xmas light application

Is this dimmable if attached to a 12v dimming circuit (like a car dashboard supply)?
Asked by: briands
As long as you do not exceed the rated voltage and use the current resistor you can get some dim ability from themI replaced two in a dash circuit with good results each one with its resistor attachedSide note if you replace all your dash lights with these it will not work as the dimmer resistor does not have enough drop you would have better luck with a dimable led power unit

mcd ??

What exactly does this mean ?? Thanks. RG
Asked by: Retiredtech
Millicandelas - a measure of luminous intensity. Conversion to lumens is possible if you know the beam angle of the LED.
