Speaker Mounting Top Hat for 1-3/8" Tripod Stand Steel
Speaker Mounting Top Hat for 1-3/8" Tripod Stand Steel is rated 4.1935 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad designThe items I received leaked air. On each unit the end cap was tack welded onto the cylinder creating a large air gap and compromising the strength of the top hat right where the top of the pole rested. I went back to Penn Elcom top hats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavey Weight UserUsing this to mount a Peavey PV-215 on speaker stands. Great once you get hole balance in the speaker. This is a soild top hat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good...but..The mounting hardware included (screws) did not lie flush. On top of that the top hat itself did not lay flat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Plug Should be Installed on the Inside of Tube! For the best results out of this, a guy needs to weld his own plug on the end of the tube. It comes with a cheap plastic one installed on the top / outside of the tube. I'm not a welder so I reversed the plastic plug to be on the inside of the tube. That way the weight from my speakers are constantly applying pressure to seal it better. This keeps the plug in place during use. Even then it is not completely sealed without adding some silicone or something. Overall the this could have been a great product if they just would have finished it. All they would have had to do is weld a flat plate onto the top to seal the thing off. It has a deeper tube for more strength and stability than the plastic offerings I've used in the past. That is a plus, but it only stabilizes this things main negative point.Overall a guy can make it do what he needs it to do. This product just forces us to do more work than we should have to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from There's a problem...This top hat has a plastic plug on top of the socket to seal it. When you place your speaker cab on a stand, the plug is pushed out by the stand's post. Voila! You now have an air leak in your cab (unless you have the cab on a stand).Of course, you could open up the cab and push the cap back into place every time you need to use the cab without a stand... but who needs that?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pipe is open end, closed with PLASTIC capThis confirms another buyers observation below. This one is made in Taiwan. Not a Penn-Elcom, (USA), though this Parts Express (PE) product use to come from Penn-Elcom. I have the old metal one from Penn Elcom. This is the only PE only 1-3/8 top hat that PE now sells. I go and find the original Penn Elcom before I put this guy in my 70lb speaker.

Does this socket have a solid bottom, in other words, will the pole not slip through and damage the speaker? Thanks

Asked by: Tommy1948
it's solid or it would act like a port hole when not used
