Product Details

Speaker L-Pad Attenuator 100W Mono 3/8" Shaft 8 Ohm

L-pads adjust the relative volume of driver(s)/speaker(s) connected to them by placing added resistance in series. At the same time, a counter-resistance is placed in parallel with the driver(s)/speaker(s) to maintain a constant impedance which allows the original crossover design to be used. L-pads are to be placed in between the amplifier and driver(s)/speaker, or in between the crossover and driver(s)/speaker(s). This particular L-pad is rated at 100 watts RMS, is designed to be used with 8 ohm loads, features a 3/8" shaft length, and comes with mounting hardware, faceplate, and volume control knob.

Dimensions: 2-1/2" diameter, 1" depth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised. Not much there to go wrong.I bought these for a set of Selenium D220TI's .They work as described and handle the 100 watts fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from L-Pad is fantasticI bought this as a replacement for a Fender amp. I was totally surprised when it arrived and was an EXACT match for the item I was needing. Works great and fits wonderfully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ProductWorks as expected. Turns smoothly thru entire range with no noise or dropouts - that's more than I can say about certain other brands of L-pads I've used.Be aware that this is the short shaft model. It's made for mounting on a sheet metal or plastic panel. You can't mount this one straight thru the wall of the speaker box. For that you want the 260-265.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than OEM.I just installed one of thes as a replacement in a passive Peavey personal monitor. A littlemodification of the existing. Mounting plate and the supplied faceplate was necessary but it worked perfectly AMD has a much smoother linear taper of volume than the original l-pad. A real bargain. The pictorial diagram is 100% accurate and not backwards.

Speaker L-Pad Attenuator 100W Mono 3/8" Shaft 8 Ohm

Hi. Can I use a pair of L-Pads to ease down the bass output of my Bi-wired speakers ( people seem to speak about tweeters but on occasion I need to reduce the bass) Thanks.Pete.

Asked by: valveamper
Unfortunately L-pads are not recommended for use on woofers due to the high current draw. They will heat up and likely fail very fast in this application.

Can I use this to add volume control to an entire (3-way) speaker?

I am running two sets of speakers off my amp, but they vary greatly in efficiency. I need something to reign in my efficient speakers so that they are better matched to the others. I have considered a speaker selector, but I don't really want to purchase/run a new apparatus. I'm thinking about wiring up my own speaker attenuator using two of these (one for each speaker). Will it work?
Asked by: dhernan
This can be used to attenuate an entire speaker if necessary, as long as the power is kept within limits.

Is this the right L-pad for my tweeter?

The ribbon tweeter is much louder than the mid and low on my center channel. I need around -10 db to match the others. Is the wattage/ everything else appropriate? oh, there are 2 mids in series.
Asked by: hannielhrach
Yes this will work fine for that application.

How do you assemble the knob? Where do the hex nut and washers go?

Asked by: GUCCI
The body of the L-pad and the faceplate sandwich the enclosure it is mounted to. The nuts and washers attach to the shaft of the L-pad and the knob is press-fitted on the shaft.

will this turn up volume?

I see this being used to mainly to turn down the tweeters to match the woofer or other drivers. Can these be used to increase the volume of the tweeter? if not, can they be used to decrease the volume of a woofer?
Asked by: breadfan
Unfortunately no, L-pads can only decrease volume. They can be used on woofers but it is usually not recommended as they can be over powered quite easily.
