Speaker Cabinet Port Tube 2-1/2" ID x 8-1/2" L Flared
Speaker Cabinet Port Tube 2-1/2" ID x 8-1/2" L Flared is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit and simple installI followed the guidelines posted above and cut the circle for the port with a circle jig and router, the port just fit perfect. I added a layer of friction tap to avoid the need to glue it in place and it works like a charm. Awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice clean portI have purchased 6 of these so far. This port requires an accurate circular cut in the enclosure. But once you get it right, it gives you a very nice finish looking from outside. I didn't need to glue it down if the cut was accurate enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun with a 2 wayI just finished a project, based loosely on Paul Carmody's "Core" speaker system. Using the Dayton RS180-8 midwoofer, Morel MDT29 tweeter, Dayton's 2 way 2KHz 2nd order Xover, with a self-made 9KHz notch filter for the midwoofer, and these 2.5" ID flared ports.Best 2 way I've built to date. Clean and nicely extended response, nice dispersion. They are all I could want. These ports are stated to fit a 3.75" hole, but many reviewers have indicated that is too tight a hole. Based on one review saying 3.75" was too small and 3.875" was too large, I split the difference, and using my Jasper jig and a router cut a hole for the ports of 3-13/16" diameter. Let me tell you, this is the perfect size hole for this port. A snug fit for sure, but no damage to the port's outer ribs when installing or removing it. As always once I fine tuned the tuning frequency I used silicone caulk to permanently seal them in place. This is the 2nd set of ports I've used from PE, the 1st being the big 4" twin flare for a RSS315HF-04 based subwoofer project. Both ports exhibit no noise in use except for the bass frequencies they are supposed to emit. And they really make the project look professional compared to the old PVC tube ports so many of us have used.I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Port Tube 2-1/2" ID x 8-1/2" L Flared ReviewI replaced the stock tubes in a pair of Rega RS5 cabinets, further lowering the low bass. This helped remove some "boomy-ness" from the room. The tubes look exact except for the length.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough to fit, easy to tune, sounds goodI used this on a ported Bass cabinet design using a 12 inch Eminence driver. As mentioned in other reviews the fit was problematic, I cut the hole a bit small and filed to fit (F2F) which was a pain. Once installed I did silicone it in place, mostly from a desire to not have it pop out during transport to a gig.Tuning it was easy, I set it to medium loud power level and drove it with a sine wave generator. Select the peak cabinet frequency and listen for chuffing at the port. I shortened the tube 1/4 inch at a time till the resonance peak diminished and chuff was minimum. You can also tape some fibers or crepe paper strips to a pencil and move it in and out of the porthole, when it sounds good with no peak, and visible air motion of the fibers is minimal, you've shortened it enough. Make sure you stand far enough away or walk around when checking for the minimum audible peak. Sweep the sine wave around and check for peaking, it should sound reasonably flat. I forget where I read these port tuning instructions, If I discover the book I will post back with the title.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from look at picture carefullypretty front but, flimsy!!! inlet is 2 1/4". not 2 1/2" untill 1/2 length. I had silicone left over so, made 5 lines along tube to dampen/reinforce. also, inside face for same reasons. 3 3/4" hole to tight. 3 7/8" hole, to loose. must be metric. don't forget to add 1/2" to overall length for the flare.

Speaker Cabinet Port Tube 2-1/2" ID x 8-1/2" L Flared

I need to cut length of port to 1.3 inches. From what point of flare do I have to measure? should I include the flare or leave it out?

Asked by: parot
For each flared end of your port, add 0.5" to the overall length. For your 1.3" port, you would add 0.5" for the flare, and therefore cut the overall length to 1.8".
