Can this product be used with 1 AWG wire by trimming some wire and fitting it inside the connector that way?
I suppose it could be done that way although I would recommend heat shrink to cover the frayed ends of the cut off strands to prevent any kind of short.

Is this the male side of the connector?
There is not a separate male and female on this. They connect right into each other. essentially the other one would be flipper 180 degrees and they click right together,

Can I use these between my boat battery and my 25hp outboard starter motor?
Hello,I'd like a quick connect application for my electric start Johnson 25hp gas motor. This would connect between the battery and the starter motor (solenoid). I think the current wire is 2AWG or 4AWG. Also, what is the method used to connect the connector to the wires? Thanks,Bob
Yes these will work very well for that application. These are designed for crimping to the cable.
