Product Details

Selenium D220Ti-16 1" Titanium Horn Driver 16 Ohm 1-3/8"-18

Selenium's D220Ti-16 is a high quality compression driver offering excellent efficiency and low distortion. It is recommended for use in studio monitors, stage boxes, and sound reinforcement in small to medium rooms. The D220Ti-16's diaphragm is formed from pure, rigid, light, and extremely thin titanium (0.025 mm). To avoid stress and distortion, the suspension has specially designed reinforcement. An injected-molded phase plug is optimized to eliminate undesirable phase cancellations. The ceramic magnetic assembly effectively concentrates flux in the gap, and highest motor strength efficiency is achieved through the use of FEA (Finite Element Analysis). A voice coil manufactured in CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminum Wire) and wound on a polyimide former assures great stability and thermal resistance, and the moving assembly has a perfect auto-centering characteristic that makes replacement easy if required. Standard 1-3/8"-18 TPI screw-on mounting.

Selenium D220Ti-16 1" Titanium Horn Driver 16 Ohm 1-3/8"-18
Selenium D220Ti-16 1" Titanium Horn Driver 16 Ohm 1-3/8"-18 is rated 4.9167 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive Bang for the BuckWOW, these things are FEAKIN LOUD! I hadn't given much thought to their sensitivity of 109dB except to consider that I’d probably need L-pads if I was going to pair them with my JBL mids and bass bins that have a sensitivity of 97dB. Once I plugged them in, it dawned on me that they were monsters. I’ve since reconsidered using passive x-overs for the mid/treble section of my system, because in a tri-amp configuration the little 50w per channel amp I have EASILY allows them to keep up with the 500 watts per side I have going to the mids and the 1,000 watts per side I’ve got going to the bass bins. WHAAAT? You ask? Well, do the math; with the Selenium D220 Ti’s having 12dB on my other speakers, and every 3dB being twice as loud, these drivers are 16 times louder than my other speakers. Of course there are always some fudge factors that make the specs on a page not jive with your particular practical application, but I’m telling ya’, these drivers cook (in the good sense) and they sound awesome. They leave me wondering what warrants the huge difference in price between the Selenium drivers and those I have with a JBL nameplate. I’m guessing the drivers in the regular JBL line are more accurate in a sort of audiophile way, but for my use in a club PA, the Selenium’s sound incredible, and are an excellent value. The Performance and Value rating categories were no brainers, and I also gave five stars in the "features" category because I didn't know what else to do: features??? Huh? What? They're speakers. Anyway, I’m happy A+++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no problems so fari was blowing out the drivers in my carvin ls 2153 speakers all the time . i replaced them with these and have had no problems yet , and i dont need to turn up my high end on my pa as much either to achieve the same pitch . they are awesome !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bang for the buckI've used these 16 & 8 ohm drivers as replacements for JBL 2412 and more expensive drivers in concert/club setting as well as my own system. Cheaper to replace the whole driver than rebuild the OEM units and the Selenium usually handles more power plus the Selenium diaphragms are VERY cost effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart PurchaseWe use these in our stage monitors at The Blue Pig, also known as Vnuk’s Lounge, and receive many complements. I was worried because the wattage rating is slightly lower than the drivers which they replaced. We have had no volume or distortion issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior replacementI took over an Open Mic and the PA sounded like mud, so I investigated and discovered the compression drivers were blown. I told the owner I could fix it for around $100.I use Selenium's D220Ti in all my low power cabinets and love their warm clean detail for a great price. So after looking up the Carvin part and seeing their part was more expensive and obviously lower capacity. I opted for the Selenium drivers.Better sound, longer life, lower price, ... what would you do?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacementI got 2 of these to replace the ones in my Carvin PM-12's. I blew one of them at a gig last week. I was just gonna get a replacement diaphragm from Carvin, but decided on the upgrade, great choice. Though I only tried them with recorded music tonight they sound much better than the stock Carvin's. Detail came alive. Only problem with the install is that I had to remove the back cover to clear the molded part of the Carvin cabinet. Much beefier than the stock ones.
