"hammytechnoid" said good as midrange drive in some ARs; have a Kef C55 cabinet: .82 cu ft internal volume: can make it ported or sealed: OK for this JBL in this cabinet? optimum cabinet is .5 to .75, so I may be OK; realize this is a pro unit....
This driver will play quite loud but it will severely lack in the bass department. There are better options for this type of application, I would recommend the Dayton Series II 8" if you are looking for a rugged, relatively high sensitivity 8" driver that will still produce the lows. This will also work well in that volume.http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-st210-8-8-series-ii-woofer--295-100

Would this be a good replacement for a JBL 4301B?
I would not recommend this woofer for that application. If the originals cannot be repaired (recommended), the best option would be our Dayton Series II 8" woofers which you can see below. You will have to verify the recess and cutout dimensions for the original unless you can modify the cabinet.http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-st210-8-8-series-ii-woofer--295-100

Once these are sold out, will there be another similar driver offered by Selenium to replace this model? I may need more of these in the future.
These have been discontinued by Selenium and the have no provided a replacement for them yet. I cannot say weather there will be one available or not, but we have many other 8" drivers that could work.

Would four of these used for Bass guitar be better in a sealed cabinet or a ported one? Would the volume of the cabinet be 4 times the suggested of 1.69 cu ft for a sealed box or some other volume?
This really isn't the best option for a bass guitar application. The sealed enclosure is very large and still only has an F3 around 90 Hz. I would recommend looking for a different option if you really want to use four 8" drivers, a single 15" will be better on all accounts. A better 8" option would be the Dayton PA200-8. This will reach lower in a smaller vented box, but still be limited with overall output.http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-pa200-8-8-pro-woofer-speaker--295-025

Would this speaker work well for a boston acoustic a60 speaker replacement? Cabinet is 11x7x17 (quick measurements)
This would actually not be a good choice for that speaker. The Goldwood below would work much better for the same price.http://www.parts-express.com/goldwood-gw-8028-8-butyl-surround-woofer-8-ohm--290-355
