Selenium 6W4P 6" Woofer
Selenium 6W4P 6" Woofer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-Purpose WooferDon't worry about these not fitting a 6 1/2" hole, they do, but besides that, these things throw mid-bass when in a high-tuned bass reflex enclosure. Ex.You have a stereo pair of 2 way cabinets, like I do, and you have a 200W amp to power them, 100W to 4 ohms, because its an 8 ohm woofer and you have an 8 ohm tweeter with a high pass filter, in a living room setting, using them for surround speakers or fronts, you will never max out the 100W they are plenty loud to fill a living room at a max of 75W.Now, professional setting (my dream for these woofers): You have a 2 way cabinet with 2 15's and 1 horn driver and in the middle, in parallel with the horn driver, you have this little baby, it takes up to 400W peak, so there is plenty of headroom, and if you are just looking for some vocal reinforcement these will do amazing. I doubt you will max out the 400W limit. These sound great, but in a bad enclosure can be a little peaky, the mid-highs what I like to call 2K-4K are a little louder than the rest, so an EQ would take about 3 db off those freqs, but other than that, they are great midbass drivers, I'd say their range musically is about 80 Hz - 6K you would want your tweeters to carry out the 5K plus. you will get everything from Low Toms on a drumset up until the high chords of an electric guitar from these speakers, and quite honestly, you will be impressed at the articulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product for priceThese are excellent little woofers!! They take power like champs and get LOUD!!!! Because they do get a bit screamy, I would recommend using an equalizer to drop the response in the 2-4k Hz range.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Selenium 6w4pI have purchased 4 of these mids and have been using them in my trucks kick panels and stock door location for about 2 months. They are great sounding mids with a decent amount of low end response but there is one thing that makes me stray from them. One, being that the sound they have in some higher frequencies is quite bright(why i gave it 4/5 for performance), and overpowering compared to all other freqs. Second is the price point. They price seems to raise ever few weeks. 32, 35, 38, now 40. I have recent purchased some dayton audio PA165-8s which for half the price seem a almost the same, without being bright, just have some lesser build quality materials (read my review under that product). Overall these are great and get loud on any power thrown at them (quite efficient).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's not "all that"Unless this woofer runs at sufficiently high enough power levels the, mids will drop certain frequencies in the 1KHz range making them sound muffled in some areas. Certain voices from certain people come out quite clear while other voices that have a lower tonal range get muffled out. The RTA shows a bit of a nasty roller coaster in the mid section, unless it's playing close to full power. Basically, it was made to be played loud as a midbass, but if you want mids with high sensitivity, this might not be enough. These speakers also don't do well connected in series, since they rely heavily on the amps internal feedback/damping factor to keep the cone moving accurately. In series they sound dead, but in parallel they're so loud that a horn tweeter can't keep up. They are very musical speakers, don't get me wrong. Unfortunately, they consistently drop certain frequencies in music, vocals, and PA applications which would require an additional midrange. They are also poorly packaged(no styrofoam or any type of support, just a plain box). Of the 4 I ordered, one of them had a 2 inch dent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bang for your buckThese speakers are great for car audio use. They get very loud and handle a great frequency range, with a very powerful low-end midbass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great midgreat speaker useing in a 5 way system which includes a soft dome tweeter 8000hz and up, a focal soft dome mid 8500hz to 800 hz , selenium 6in 5000hz to 200 hz 10in mid woofer 200 hz to 80hz with (8) 12in subs .. the selenium blends the focal soft dome very well ... hard to find a 6 in driver to keep up with soft dome mids this one does it with flying colors ... as you can see we like it loud and clean thanks Keith

Steel mesh grill 6 1/2. Will it work?

Asked by: Xrojas
Technically yes but new screw holes will need to be drilled in the grill in order for them to line up.

What is the smallest sealed enclosure possible for this speaker?

I want to build a couple of 2-way speakers to be used as satellites for a PA system. I want the smallest enclosure possible using a 6" or 8" woofer.
Asked by: Joe909
This speaker will perform well in an enclosure as small as 0.25ft³. As a satellite, you won't be depending on it for low-end response, so the enclosure will be less critical to achieving a nice result.
