Selenium 18SWS800 18" 800W Subwoofer
Selenium 18SWS800 18" 800W Subwoofer is rated 4.8667 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This sub woofer rocks!I was hesitant about this purchase at first. But since it was made by JBL, I thought I would give them a try. I am glad I did. This woofer rocks! I bought these to replace a blown JBL 2241GPL. I figured that I would buy one, see how sounds and if I like it I would buy another one. For less that $200 this woofer blew my other sub out the water. They are rated at 800 watts @ 8 ohms so you will need an amp with some nuts to push them. I've already ordered another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound, Solid Build!I purchased this SUB to replace a blown speaker from a single 18" box (JBL MRX518S) and it fits perfectly. The sound of this SUB is clean and accurate and installation was a snap. Nice solid build! I recommend this speaker to anyone! Excellent service from Parts Express as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great thumpI am currently using 2 of these in my P.A. rig. I have them installed in a set of Peavey SP 118 cabinets and they sound GREAT! These things are not as efficient as the original drivers but sound much cleaner and deeper. Fantastic quality but are power hungry and need a good amp to push them. I am using two 2000 watt (bridged) Crown power amps on these and they really rock. I will buy these again when I need a new pair of subs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life's Too Short For 6.5" WoofersThis woofer trades a little efficiency for more low frequency response. I get about 37hz @ -3db in a relatively small (for a high efficiency 18" woofer) 4.7 cu ft enclosure. I get a big movie theater sound at home with these in a 3 way configuration. When efficiency balanced with the mid and tweeter (l-pads), they kick hard on dance music and movies without boominess. They are loud enough @ 2W but will shake the walls with 50+W/ch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse driverI wanted my first custom pro 18" to be exceptional, but also affordable enough to eventually build 8 of them (I think 8 will be enough, for now...) I put this in a 40"x18"x24" enclosure with 4X4" precision ports at 13" each. The funky shape is designed to fit 2 into my car easily. This is tuned to around 32 hz. This sub has VERY capable output. I play a lot of hip hop on it and have run it at quite a few events where EDM djs have tortured it. I have run it solo at medium sized events and it keeps up well. It is usually powered with an XLS 402D that produces 900 watts rms bridged. I would say this is the MINIMUM to power this speaker as it can soak up everything the XLS has with no discernible distortion. More headroom would even further open this sub up. The precision ports are absolutely top notch for eliminating port turbulence and after finally hearing them in a pro sound application I never want to build (or hear) another slot ported sub. The sub is very well constructed and is not light. I can however easily move my finished sub by myself. The pictures are of the finished (mostly) sub and from inside the sub through one of the ports. Check out the clusters of tiny holes in the Selenium sticker on the backplate. They are holes that go through the backplate to help vent the voice coil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a great price!I am typically the guy who reads all of the reviews on a product but never leaves any after my purchase. I felt it necessary to make a few comments on this product based on my personal experience. Now on with the review:I purchased these speakers as replacements for a Yamaha double 18" bass cabinet with blown speakers. The original speakers were Eminence and I just wanted more. These speakers deliver on every level such as price, power handling, look and durability. I am a professional disc jockey and use this cabinet every weekend for over 25 hours. The cabinet slams hundreds of people faithfully every minute of every show. I am driving this cabinet with a very old Crown Microtech 1200 brideged mono at over 1200 continuous watts and it is the perfect compliment to these drivers.

Capable performer in 6 cubic foot ported box? Looking at this driver or the Eminence sigma pro 18. Which would work best in the given enclosure size

basically seeing which driver would be the best for the box. tuning will be around 40 hertz. thank you
Asked by: bcjason
These two are very very close, in a 6 cubic foot box tuned to 40hz they model within +-0.5dB of each other.I would save $60 and go with the Eminence, made in the U.S.A. and has a longer warranty.
