Product Details

Selenium 12MG1400 12" Woofer / Midbass Speaker

The Selenium 12MG1400 12" Woofer/Midbass Speaker is capable of producing high SPL midrange output when deployed in professional PA systems. Working equally well in both direct radiating and horn loaded enclosures, the 12MG1400's large ceramic ferrite motor and low mass 4" diameter aluminum voice coil contribute to the driver's high efficiency. A long fiber pulp cone and impregnated double half-roll fabric surround couple the motor to the air load, ensuring great dynamics and smooth response.

The 1,400 watt program power rating is achieved through the use of a polyimide voice coil former, high-temperature adhesives, and a large, tapered central vent in the pole piece. The entire assembly of moving parts is kept in perfect alignment by a cast aluminum and epoxy-coated frame.

are these speaker louder than the Selenium 12MB3P seeing that the Selenium 12MB3P having a higher Sensitivity

Asked by: jigga
The 12MB3P is the more efficient speaker - therefore if you feed the same amount of power to the 12MB3P and to the 12MG1400 - the 12MB3P will sound louder.

are these speaker louder then the evdl12x?

Asked by: cuhiche
The evdl12x has an efficiency of 100 db 1W/1M. The 12MG1400 has an efficiency of 99db 1W/1M. So these speakers are not louder. The EV is an old product and was more than likely spec'd very generously. The Selenium has been tested using gear that wasn't available back then. So in that sense, the Selenium should out-perform the EV. But keep in mind that classic gear, like one guitar vs another, have personalities. You will perceive a difference - even if it has nothing to do with specs that are virtually identical.
