Safety Cable 29" Length 700 lb. Load Capacity
Can these be used to fly speakers?
At a safety rating of 700LBS each and a typical speaker on the fly would use four cables, my logic is:4x700=2,800LBS
While "rated" to be able to be able to fly speakers, there are a lot of liability issues to be concerned with. If this is in your home - however you hang or mount speakers should be a consideration for your guests. In pro applications, if you do the install you need business insurance in case something happens. There a professional rigging companies that would be safer for this application and more conservative for your liability. The cable as it is described here is a "secondary" safety in case a light comes loose. If it falls - it gives someone time to safely lower it. That is not to say the scrims and barn doors may not fall off, or the shock won't crack the halogen raining down hot glass fragments. So temper your decision on the conservative side.
