Rotary Switch 1 Pole 12 Position Shorting

Flexible number of positions?

Is there a way to have a "start" block and a "stop" block beyond which the switch can't be rotated -- such that, for example, only 8 positions are available, 9-10-11-12-1-2-3-4?
Asked by: profem
you wont be able to stop the device, however you could short pairs of the contacts together, so that when each of the two contacts are made, the same thing happens. the switch would still have a 12 position rotation, but only 8 functions if you short two pairs of contacts.another way would be to use an arrow type knob on the mounting plate, and place two physical stop pins on the surface such that the switch cannot go past 8, or in reverse past 1.the best way, if you can find one is to obtain an 8 position rotary switch.
